jason str
I like the convenience of throwing 5 CD's into my CD player but i prefer the sound of vinyl, whats your opinion?
Islander
CDs are really convenient and they're my first choice for background music, but for serious listening I prefer vinyl. DVDs are better than both, but I've got a small selection of DVDs compared to the number of CDs and LPs I have.
chisoxpurdue
CD's or even computer lossless form CD's are most convenient and sound pretty good on the systems. (Pandora for work). Vinyl is good when I get my father's good condition vinyl. SACD and DVD-Audio or even Blu Ray give some of the highest quality.
jason str
I never even thought about using DVD's for music, I'm not much of a TV watcher but if it sounds better it may be worthwhile looking into. The SACD i have looked into before but there is not much selection in my type of music (most types of rock).

Mallette
I prefer whichever has the better sound quality...and that may be one or the other for any given recording. Convenience, form factor, medium...means nothing to me for serious listening. It's all about the source quality and whether it is present on the media or not. MechMan
I find prepping for the vinyl playback adds to the enjoyment myself. Lossless for background music or if I don't have time to catch the end of an LP.
Daddy Dee
I got a CD player in 1984 and except for buying some vinyl records to spin DJing never looked back.
soundbound
Compact disk since I got my first CD player in 1986. I have some records and a turntable. Maybe I'll play those records again some rainy day with my restored Scott 299C and Dynaco A25 speakers. [um]
RT FAN
I'm with Daddy Dee, cds only in my rigs. One day I will repair my pair of Dual TT's but considering the condition of the majority of my LPs, I see no rush to do so.

Thaddeus Smith
Music server with 16/44.1 or 24/96 FLAC files. It doesn't make for very compelling "audiophile" gear porn since you only need one or two components to play the media, but it sure sounds just as good. Sancho Panza
Haven't seen my turntable since 1990. I am NOT looking for it, like CDs on my iPod or Pandora over my Denon.

Mallette
Problem with any single medium is that it limits one. I want it ALL. Some music can only be had on LPs, some only on CDs, some only on SACD, some only on RTR...cassette...WHATEVER. If it has music worth hearing I want it. JJkizak
Occasionally I will play an LP and then wonder why the ----do I still keep 432 annoying record albums. JJK
