Salvador
I finally saved up enough money to buy the 105, issue is I'm afraid that a new model will be released soon. Does any one have any idea when the new models will be released?

Does any one have any idea when the new models will be released? What do you fear a new model will have that the 105 does not? From my understanding, user reviews and professional reviews indicate that it would be hard to improve on the performance that the 105 already possesses. Personally, I go for the "older" model when the new ones come out to save $$$. Bill

Bill I agree with this... a few things that might be improved is HDMI 2.0 and some native 4k technology. but either of those would nto stop me from getting a 105 if you were not overly concerned with 4k
derrickdj1
Five years difference between players might lead to quiet a few changes but, one year, no. Companies know what they are going to add to their product for 3-5 years and trickle the changes over the years most of the time.
tmassey
I'm not sure when the 9x series came out, but I was under the impression the 10x's are still pretty young. Even if the next ones are coming out soon, Oppos seem to hold their value extremely well. Just keep it in great condition.

Does any one have any idea when the new models will be released? How soon do you think you will be using 2.0 hdmi is the only thing i would be worried about. Not sure if these oppo players will be able to be upgraded to 2.0 (from an update). I hope they can because i see myself going to 2.0 in the next few years. And would hate to have to upgrade my player.

Schu
now there is a D version? when will the madness end...to me it looks like a "levels" or "Curve" enhancement done in auto mode.
Mongo171
I used to work for a company that made consumer electronic parts. If I had waited for the next best thing to come out, I never would've gotten ANY product. Back in the 90's, our new products hit the streets every 18 months. It's called Moore's Law. Look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law
Lloyd-TX
My (uneducated) guess is that the BDP-103 and BDP-105 won't be replaced for another 12 to 18 months . . . I rcently replace the BDP-83 in my family room with the -103 - what a machine! The -83 now resides in my MBR.

And then when the BDP113/115 come out, the next set of upgrades will be making the rumor mill.
ivanhurd
Tough choice. I would want the newest thing too, although I'm sure the 105 would be a cinch to sell if you did end up wanting the new thing. I think Oppos renew every 2 years tho. TasDom
The BDP-103 Darbee Edition takes home theater beyond accuracy and provides enhanced depth and realism to the visual experience. Give us your e-mail address and we'll notify you about the availability of the BDP-103 Darbee Edition which we currently expect in early October. http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-103/blu-ray-BDP-103D-Overview.aspx

Thaddeus Smith
I've got the BDP-93 and have had no compelling reason to upgrade over these past two years (or looking forward). Pull the trigger and be at ease with your decision. Your device will last you a good long while, and be relevant while doing so.
Rivernuggets
Whatever your decision, don't research afterward for at least two years! Just enjoy your new player.
