OMG It's been tooo long. Last pay for view concert was summer of 89. We did not know it was going to be out side. It was raining. But we warmed up on Tequila prior to going in. Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and John Hiatt. Great show, and they kept coming out and played for hours after the regular show was over!

That little ole band from Texas, ZZ TOP at The American Music Theater, Lancaster, PA. This was a few months ago, August I believe. Their opening act was The Ben Miller Band. I'd never heard of them before, but they're well worth checking out. We were in the 12th row center. There isn't a bad seat in the house at AMT.post-4134-0-96860000-1384563728_thumb.jp

This past summer seen Alabama at Seneca Allegheny Casino in Salamanca, NY. Great show by the way!!!! But best one by far was a few years back in Woodstock, NY where I attended a "Midnight Ramble" at Levon Helms house. At the end of the show, I walked up and said "Sounded great tonight, Levon" and I put out my hand, which he shook appreciatively and said "Thanks man, thanks!!!" as he looked me right in the eye!!!!.... I can barely remember it as I was so star struck!!!!.... I had never been that way before.... lol....

Also that night appearing as a guest singer was Donald Fagen, to whom I also spoke to as everyone was kinda mingling around after the great show. Just mentioned that I always enjoyed his music too, and he also thanked me. It was a magical night for me, no doubt!!!!

I saw ZZ Top myself a couple of summers ago right here in Fredericksburg. They were on with 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson. Was a pretty cool show. Figured, hey, the venue is only about mile and half from my place, so might as well go and see it.

I don't know if this qualifies as a concert, but it blew my mind.

I was headed home from the store the other night and heard some music coming from the nearby ghetto dive bar that caught my ear. I went in and found about 15 or so drunken stiffs and riff raff totally ignoring the band that was playing. I recognized the drummer from Leftover Salmon and other local acts, and they were playing a super freaky interpretation of Welcome to the Jungle. The guitarist was laying down some awesome stuff, clearly heavily influenced by Jeff Beck, and he was very talented. They laid a psychedelic bluesy sheen to the GnR song that simply was awesome. It continued that way for some time, and I got sucked into the entire set. Their sound system was tight, and the talent was shockingly good.

The fact that I was the only one anywhere close to the band/stage area actually focused on the music kind of broke my heart. Pearls before swine.

The band is the Symbols, and they play in the northern front range Colorado area. Any Jeff Beck fans would really dig them.

The last show was Leon Russel opening for Hot Tuna.First to open was Leon who I haven't seen in literally 43 years since the big weekend at New Paltz was a bit disappointingl. He played mostly 40ish type songs like Swinging In My Sweet Baby's Arms ,Georgia on my mind and stuff like that .He did not wake up until he did a mini medley of Delta Lady,Papa'sGot a Brand New Bag,Jumping Jack Flash ,and Kansas City. 40 minutes and he was gone. The venue I had never been to before was a great looking old timey grand dame of a theater The State Theater of New Brunswick N.J.The sound for him sucked just like the old days were the warm up act got the short end of the sound and this was really old school stacked black boxes on the sides of the stage and not the hanging line arrays you see and hear everywhere else.Tuna comes on and starts w/ a few acoustic numbers but then starts to sear w Jack as ringmaster for tonights show. The sound improved 10 fold and they were very good w/ no 3rd guitar only Barry doing the Mandolin and the other wacky looking string stuff.Jorma was on as usual smiles were all abound and they seemd to be having a great time.I like the Count Basie Theater much better both for sound and intamacy but nothing beats a theater and Tuna as always keeps their ticket prices down.Had I known they are playing the Beacon next Saturday and generally play a 2 night 2 stop a year gig there. The Beacon , while opulant is a great place if you can afford it but getting into the city is a hassle and adds to the expense of the night.

Not used to this new format.Leave for a few days and the world just flits on by

Saw Zack Brown Band on Saturday night. Great show. I had no idea that they rocked a hard as they do! A good friend is playing bass with them on this tour so we were able to get the back stage tour etc. Pretty phenomenal logistics involved. I was certainly impressed.

Paul McCartney last Spring just before he turned 71.

Had great seats at a great show at a great cost. Paul is in great shape for someone of ANY age and played for over 3 hours. I really enjoyed it and the smile on my wife's face made it all worth while.

Did I tell you it was great ?

There's a local music theater production going on, "Good Rockin' Tonight, a Tribute to Sun Records". I saw it last Saturday with my wife and had a wonderful time. I saw it again this past Tuesday with a gang from work. That's a buddy of mine on bass who got me permission to take pictures. It's a great venue and a very well done send-up to the legendary artists and music from Sun.
