The Dude
My dad asked me to help him put together a setup, His budget is 2500, sounds like he will be using his NFM card so I have to look there at what we can get. Here is where we will be shopping http://www.nfm.com/list.aspx?dsNav=N:1070 He wants a LG smart TV 55-60 inch, a Blu Ray player with wifi(why I don't know when he would be getting a smart TV). Last but not least something that drives me nuts is a wireless sound system. Anybody got any ideas.
The Dude
Heres some Ideas http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=37610847 Here is a 55" that would save him 500. http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=37695608 I guess most blu ray players these days are all wifi and with in 100.00 give or take. http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=37680055 Since the blu ray players are fairly cheap I could bump him up to a 3d tv for a couple hundred more. http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=37637519 Now for the sound system, I figure he should have about 1000 for this judging by the tv and blu ray. Not Klipsch, but may be better then what is available. http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=33826769 This receiver looks budget friendly. http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=37790334 or maybe one of these 2 http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=38210100 http://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=38210084 I don't think 7.1 or 5.1 is that important to him. Or of course maybe one of these. http://www.nfm.com/list.aspx?dsNav=N:4294966955-3328 Unless they have some nicer speakers on clearance thats about what we have to work with. Unless you folks have a better idea.

Just let him know its a great idea dad but it just has not caught on to where anything worth the money has been put out. Im sure he would pass on wasting money
Heritage_Head
The onkyo avr looks ok but those speakers are imo not worth it Edited November 10, 2013 by reference_head
Scrappydue
all that onkyo stuff is a bunch of overpriced stuff. see if you can talk him inot just buying a tv and bluray player there and buy elsewhere for speakers. i have asked about them budging on price at our nebraska furniture here in kansas city, and they said no way. klipsch dealers should never budge on price. i shoed them emails from other dealers regarding price quotes i have got and they just laughed and said no way. for a 1000 you could get him a full rf-42ii home theater with a free sw-110 right now from acoustic sound design and they will package receivers with them too for bundle pricing. The Dude
Ya I was talking to my wife about used, I know I could get him a way better deal. all that onkyo stuff is a bunch of overpriced stuff. see if you can talk him inot just buying a tv and bluray player there and buy elsewhere for speakers. i have asked about them budging on price at our nebraska furniture here in kansas city, and they said no way. klipsch dealers should never budge on price. i shoed them emails from other dealers regarding price quotes i have got and they just laughed and said no way. for a 1000 you could get him a full rf-42ii home theater with a free sw-110 right now from acoustic sound design and they will package receivers with them too for bundle pricing. Thats a good Idea, The Mart here has crapy customer service so usually I hold that against them. I once got them to drop a rc52 from 350 down to 250 for that reason, plus I could get it locally as well for 250.

The Dude
First I would like to thank you guys for your opinion, second thank Scrappy for the offer. My dad ended up with a LG 60" led 3d 240hz smart tv similar to the one above and close to that price. He picked up a Harman/Kardon receiver, and ended up with a set of Infinity's that sounded pretty decent. Anyways he liked it all and spent a little more then he wanted but has room for upgrading to 7.1 down the road. All in all I think he is pretty happy, he and his wife are liking this technology stuff more and more once they see what they can do with it. He was tickled that the receiver had a am/fm tuner built in.
