The level of denial in the Ford family is amazing. His brother, who is a city councillor, totally supports him, and his mother suggests only that he get a driver and do something about his weight.

Meanwhile, every day brings a new embarrassment that tops the previous one.

Toronto City Council is barely functioning, and the province is looking into ways to remove Rob Ford from office, since he clearly doesn't want to leave.

There is a municipal election in less than a year, and one of the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) political commentators suggested that the least complicated and precedent-setting way to go would be to advance the date of the election. That way, the voters have a chance to replace him by normal democratic means.

I'm amazed that he was elected mayor in the first place, since as a city councillor, he was just as much a crude and loud-mouthed bully as he is today.

City Councel is trying to run him out of town. But he wont leave. The residents will need to run him out, or the province may need to step in.

There is a definite resemblance. The mayor's mad rant about killing someone (seen on video on the news last week) was a lot like Chris Farley's rant to the two teenagers on SNL, even the postures. If he was a comedian and not the mayor of a large city, we could laugh, instead of feeling bad for everyone concerned.
