CECAA850
I opened up 2 different pair of H1's yesterday and neither set had a gasket on the backs. Is that the way they came? Wouldn't they benefit greatly with the addition of one? Thanks, Carl.

ricktate
Not only did I put gaskets on mine I added a 1/2 inch plywood to the inside back of the back board. Before you could feel the board move now it solid. Made the board just smaller than outer size so it would still fit easy. Rick
The Dude
What kind of gasket material do you use
ricktate
I think it is just thin foam type it compressed good. Rick
Schu
why if it's a non ported desgin?
Guest David H
why if it's a non ported desgin? Sealing is necessary for better bass response. Dave
ricktate
That extra stiffness from ply on inside of back panel really helped. I can not prove it but I think it sounded better after. I kinda doubt it had any air leaks but easy to make sure it don't. Rick
Pats3of4
If it seems to sound better than that is all that matters. Somehow though I bet Paul Klipsch tested out various methods over his years.
Marvel
If it seems to sound better than that is all that matters. Somehow though I bet Paul Klipsch tested out various methods over his years. Perhaps, once built, the majority of these stayed airtight. Even if the backs could be heavier/thicker to reduce resonances. We're a special group, opening things up and changing them. ricktate
I bet they stayed air tight to......but they also cut the wood to within 1/16 so that helped. There Heresy also saved the company as Paul and many have said and Andy said he usually made over 300 a day there. Rick
