tnr
tnr, do you know what kind of tree that red/white one is? Beautiful. Are you referring to the last few photos? If so, it's a Burning bush in prime color. Green most of the year.

oldtimer
LOL Burning Bush Shrubs: Illegal Aliens?: This alien forms dense thickets in eastern North American forests (I've seen evidence of it, myself, in Connecticut), thickets that can out-compete native plants and form a monoculture. Some eastern U.S. states are now banning the importation of burning bush and other alien invasives
Paducah Home Theater
I'm not going to claim it's great photography but this was home for the past few days.
Moderators Amy Posted October 22, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 22, 2014 Steven and I climbed an old fire tower in the Hoosier National Forest last weekend. I about died, but the view was worth it.
tnr
Very cool. That looks like something out of Return of the Jedi. How high is that? Looks like it goes even higher. I don't know that I could do that. Looks scary high.
tnr
I posted pics of this burning bush almost a week ago. We've been really lucky to be able to enjoy it this long, with no recent hard rains.
The History Kid
One of the many I shot a couple days ago...colors just about fading in NE Iowa, so I'm heading south this weekend to pickup some RF-25's and an RC-25 in Illinois. More pics then maybe.
BigStewMan
I posted pics of this burning bush almost a week ago. Not the burning bush from the Bible i presume. Edited October 22, 2014 by BigStewMan

Looks like it goes even higher. I don't know that I could do that. Looks scary high. According to Wiki, 110' tall, 133 steps. Not gigantic, I'm just that outta shape Steven climbed with ease, of course. Here's a few more, for the curious. Guest Steven1963
Someone commented after I posted about my new camera in the "what I got today" thread that they wanted to see some photos taken with it, in this thread. Okay, Here is one to start (more will come). After I calibrated my lenses I wanted to real-life test them to make sure they were focusing accurately on a real subject, so I went out onto the back deck and took a pic from about 10 feet away of this flower next to the pool (it is getting late in the year so they are dying, but this one is holding on). Long story short, here are a couple shots from my new camera. Since it is a very capable action camera also, I've included a test shot of a Robin in flight. Guest Steven1963
My first attempt with a neutral density filter. I then ran the image thru photomatix for an hdr effect and cropped it. I'm not happy with the filter and will be returning it.
Jeff Matthews
This young fellow lives at a park/lake about 1/2 a mile from where I live. I usually traverse a different segment of the trail system, but on occasion, I will go by the lake to see what's up with "Alex" (as my 3, 5 and 6 year-old great nieces and nephew know him). Last time I saw Alex fully ashore was maybe 6 months ago. He looked to be 5 1/2 feet long back then. My, has he grown! I got up nice and close, and he looks to be every bit of 9 feet. LarryC
I don't know that I could do that. Looks scary high. I know I couldn't. The Northwest has many fire towers because of the mountainous terrain, some wooden. Some can be rented for the weekend or more: Edited November 1, 2014 by LarryC
