.ever stung by one?

No, just yellow jackets. I dust their underground nests when I find them, but these Hornets are huge. I don't run as fast as I used to...😄

For good reason..ever stung by one? or a couple hundred? I would not attempt without some wasp/hornet pesticide.

Flame Thrower maybe.

Had those guys in a yellow beetle bug with big ears come take ours away and it was 20% smaller at least!

They put it in their front office on E Blvd in CLT about ten years ago!

Eh, grab ya a couple cans of Black Flag Wasp & Hornet killer, wait til it's cool, slip up and load that puppy up.  Straight up into the hole and don't stop spraying.  They die, plug the hole and the rest inside can't get out.  Let it hang for a couple days then take it down and save it.

Had one almost twoce that big hanging in a tree once.  Kids were outside screwing around and came into the garage to get a couple shovels.  Soooo, I had 'em show me what was going on.  Talk about filling your shorts?

The last swarm of hornets I dealt with was in a palmetto clump, and I had to call a pro.

For interior defense, a can of heavy spray starch works well and is non-toxic, clogs their breathing tubes and jams their wings.

Thought I’d share a few images that I caught of the Aurora on Thursday night.  It was overcast at home so I headed to our place further north.  Very active sky and lasted several hours.  In the first five images you can see the Big Dipper getting lower, toward the northern horizon, over a three hour timespan from around 10:30 pm to 1:30 am.  The fifth image includes the Little Dipper (top center).  The sixth image is the view looking west over the corrals toward the Rocky Mountain Front.  The house on the property, seen in the last image, is the 120 year-old Great Northern Railway depot that was moved out here from town and restored.

I don’t think I posted images from the huge May Aurora.  Here are a few that I was able to get at a friend’s ranch closer to home.  These large Aurora events are certainly mind blowing.

For scale, that is a pretty big mountain range on the left and you can see the setting moon in the lower right horizon.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm posting this appeal here because this is where most of the pics get posted, and I've had no helpful responses, in fact none even from the mods.

When trying to post pics significantly less than the 2 m limit, I keep getting Server error -200 messages. Drag & drop, or "choose files" same result

This is function that has worked for me for years; this error started a couple of weeks ago.

It was suggested I act as my own server, that's a non-starter for many reasons, most of all, this is a forum function that has worked for me and keeps working for others

Thanks
