felitopaz
Hello everyone. I have a Klipsch Reference 7 home theatre set up that consists of the following: RF-7's DeanG modified RC-7 DeanG modified RS-7's 2 each. I got the upgrade bug and I really like the looks of the Klipsch RC-64 II although I have not listened to them. I would really appreciate your thoughts. Has anyone heard them with RF-7 DeanG mods? Thanks.
Scrappydue
I would think what you have would be a better timbre match unless you are switching to the new rf-7ii. Youthman may chime in his son has the first gen rf-7 and he switched from rc-7 to rc-64ii. Either way I don't think either would be an upgrade. Merely a lateral move. psg
I would think a lateral move at best, being that they are all DeanG'ed (is that a adjective now?)
felitopaz
I though they will be an improvement since the RC-7 if I remember correctly were $700 new and the 64-II are doubled that.
CECAA850
I'd think you'd be spending a bunch of cash and then kicking yourself afterwards. Your improvements, if any, will me marginal at best as well as subjective.
felitopaz
It sounds like you are all correct. I am going to do the sound deadening mod on all thress horns. I am going to use the Dynamat self adhesive stuff.
felitopaz
Ordered Dynamat sound deadening mat. I'll do this mod and from what i have read is pretty good on top of DeanG crossovers modification.

felitopaz
Hi Dean, Are you recommending against the horn modification? I was thinking about doing it to all three fronts. Please advise. Cheers.
CECAA850
If you do it to the L and R, you need to do the C as well. That way they'll stay matched.
Deang
It's a thick, rigid ABS plastic, firmly mounted to a motorboard, with 10 lbs. worth of both magnet and bucking magnet hanging off the back. It's a solid piece -- I just don't see how any benefit can be derived from doing this. It's not like it's a long metal, unsupported horn. Schu
indeed... should the material of the horn be imparting a sound? if so, why not make them out of Adirondack or German spruce... or even Brazilian rosewood? I think we can all agree... the shape of the horn, that is different.
felitopaz
Well I went ahead and performed the modification. It sounds a little less bright now. It does changes the sound in my opinion. Cheers.
felitopaz
And by the way I did it to all three front speakers.
