Need advice on old Klipsch gear

Hi,

A friend of mine is moving across the country and is trying to unload some equipment. He has four Klipsch KG.5 bookshelfs and a Klipsch KV-1 center channel. All of the speakers are in fair/good condition with few cosmetic damages. I realize these speakers are old, but was curious of their quality and value. He is asking 175 for all five speakers. Should I shell it out or zip up my pockets?

I will use these in my home theater. The bookshelfs will be surround and surround back. These speakers would replace my polk audio rm75 setup for surround.

Any advice appreciated.

Fair enough price; my kg1s bought NEW circa 1991, are still going fine.

Fair market value, not a steal by any means, so he isn't trying to rip you off, but he isn't doing you any great favors either!! You could get that same setup on ebay for the same price but you are saving the shipping.

Thanks, guys. I think I will counter with 140 and see what he says. I'm not desperate for these, but they sound good and would liven up my living room.

The KG.5 is a great sounding little speaker, add a little sub and you have yourself a nice system.

Should be a big upgrade over any polk audio product.

Make sure all the drivers work good before you fork out the dough.
