Home theater design/build thread reboot 2018

Recommended Posts

Just finished running a bunch of cat6 and coax all through the house. Last wiring project (that just dawned on) is to re locate the three lights above the bar. After that, insulation begins.

Insulation is underway. Next is to insulate the ceiling as much as possible. I am going to have to get creative, as i have a bunch of wiring and plumbing in the way. More than likely, the insulation will sit on top of everything.2733a5d49a556e041d478963d7f866d0.jpg1cf32afe0784d0131618c7b4bcc7c19b.jpg

Past insulation stage, now wrapping up dry wall. I have hired someone to finish the taping and mudding. He is supposed to start on Monday, this shit is getting done regardless, pretty excited about it.

I ended up using blow in insulation and double 5/8" drywall with green glue on the ceiling. 9365a0b72968990ecd17ca24925f2727.jpg8bc88f4696009ac27d992e381d9c615b.jpg20190309_165642.jpg20190310_100733.jpg

Looks good! What kind of flooring are you going to install?
in the bar area i will use the engineered vinyl that matchs the upstairs hardwood wood, its called Acacia Tobacco Road. The rest of the room will be carpet.

Primer is up and unfortunately the drywaller is going to have to come back and go over some of his work. I was thinking it was correct to begin with, I should have said something.b682dbb75ab816ea510d92bdb18aa4b5.jpg

Almost there, in the home stretch. Unfortunately the drywall finish and paint didn't turn out like I hoped (or as a professional job). Which I learned a valuable lesson. No matter how much the cost of the work, if the contractor offers a bond for extra cost, pay for it. Even after the contractor came back and repaired some things, it still wasn't correct and then no call no show. Anyways, moving on. For the most part Iike how things are turning out, I just need to learn to slow down and take my time. But at least I have space I can enjoy.

The cabinet and screen are nothing fancy, just used what I had for materials around the house. The screen is white spandex and I now realize I should have put silver spandex on first. The cabinet was installed just to get the sink in for the permit. Once the permit is cleared after final inspection, I can go back and change some things that are make shift. c605c0393f7bd33f389c3ccda91679b6.jpg026c691fc144477feffd39b4a0c6bbd9.jpga1e1a11c4344e52ee0a07ffa64f9cd50.jpg6aba43310261f0153394c4df0027c5fa.jpgd1caec07d8d641cc1528b905dd234ad7.jpg19dcbe026790247b9a8ba72efe61814e.jpg
