Italian_spak
Hello people, I'm new here, I'm from Montreal ,Quebec and I recently purchased 2 RF- 82 floor-stand speakers and a centre RC-62. I would like to get your recommendations on which receiver would give me best of both worlds between clarity and bass distribution. I will plan to get a Klipsch Synergy 12" Down-Firing Subwoofer (SUB-12). Thank you all for taking a look at my post and happy holidays!
Sancho Panza
Welcome to the Klipsch Forum & Merry Christmas. What other speakers & how many do you plan to run: 5.1, 7.1, 9.2, 11.2?
Italian_spak
I might with time get 2 ceiling speakers but it's not certain, so the speakers listed above would be my definitive setup. The receive would be based on what I have already or having a little extra juice to power those ceiling speakers later on.
willland
Italian_Spak, Welcome to the forum. Nice setup. What is your max budget for your receiver in USD? Are you open to good used gear? Bill
Schu
Proper... you need to fill in some blanks. do you have a goal in mind... 2.1/5.1/7.1?
Italian_spak
I'll stick to 7.1 My budget is around 1000$ Only new gear
fuzzydog
Congrats on the new speakers and welcome to the forum! You can count on the guys around here to point you in the right direction. There's lots of good options on subwoofers as well if you haven't committed to the sub-12.
bobdit
congrats, the 82s are really nice. For 1000 budget, it would be hard to beat the Denon X4000, Future Shop had a sale couple days ago for $999, regular msrp is around $1400. Watch FS for them to go on sale again. Schu
I think the normal list of usual suspects is going to apply here... 1k and reference.
jason str
I would steer clear on the Sub-12 unless you plan on crossing it over near 35 or 40 Hz. It gets pretty muddy above those frequencies.
Italian_spak
Ok guys, so I checked out the Futureshop website and ordered the pioneer-sc-1228-k, from 1500$, it was for sale at 750$, 120wrms per channel. What do you think?
Italian_spak
I've heard and seen that Denon amps have had many issues this past year, so I opted out of that brand of choice

Steely Dan
Hey Italian speak I'm also in the market for a new avr. I also have rf-82s and an rc-62. I've been doing a lot of reading and a lot of people recommend getting a warm sounding avr such as marantz or harman kardon to match these bright or forward sounding set of speakers. I've narrowed down my options to a marantz sr5008 or hk3700. I might go with the marantz though as hk seems to have a spotty reliability record, plus it does not support hdmi standby pass through(a must Have feature for my family) Now im just waiting for the marantz to go on sale. In the meantime, my ancient technics receiver should do just fine powering my new speakers.
derrickdj1
A warm avr or amp just means it needs more heat sinks, lol.
Sancho Panza
^^^ or proper ventilation; moved my AVR. & Center Heresy II to the top of the cabinet
Italian_spak
I have an opening in my wall unit measuring, 22x20x16 Do you think it's enough to ventilate the amp?
Sancho Panza
I do not know how much clearance Pioneer recommends; there are USB Fans you may use for cooling.
