While cost is an issue when having large heavy speakers shipped, I think my main fear is damage. I haven't had much luck receiving stuff from both FedEx and UPS lately. I'm totally gunshy. Not to mention the sort of fragile polymer baskets Klipsch uses in many of their products. Unless that's only a common problem with the rc7. Now, a palletized shipment.. I could sleep at night. :-)

I had a pair of RB-61 destroyed. But they were not wrapped well nor in original boxes. I bought my first 63/64 combo from New Orleans when I lived in San Diego. That cost me 283 to ship and they showed up unharmed. The 64 I just bought cost 50 from Chicago to kc. Unharmed. All original packaging though. That's a must for me. Although holiday time all are a bit rougher with packages. But I'd say end of January FedEx would be fine. I do not do ups. They destroyed a few things of mine.

if i had boxes i just came upon a reference set. sucks your so far away. how about a nice drive to kansas city?

I saw that. I hear KC has BBQ worth ~2k miles, but I'd have to really think about that one. :D

Well, just learned my Rotel amp needs about $400 in repairs, so ordering a brand new set is looking like less of a possibility. Still looking to pick up something used!

Jeff,

What about a change in direction a little bit and grab these RB-75's and build around them.

I am pretty sure if a nice pair of 75's popped up near me I would be all over them.

Hey Bill. Thought about that, but would still have to piece the rest together, an I still like big full-range towers for music. Used to own 75's and they're a very good speaker though.

Actually, I talked the repair guy down to $300 on my amp, then I went ahead and bit the bullet, ordering new. RF-82 ii's, RC-62 ii, RB-61 ii's.

Due in on Thurs. :-)

I thought you used to own a pair.

Good choice.

Don't you hate the wait?

I'm glad that you finally made the deal. Your avatar is killing me. The whole time I have been reading this thread I keep thinking Peter Griffin is trying to find speakers, but keeps getting side tracked at the Drunken Clam. Sorry, but it has been funny.
