thebes
On closeout at Kmart for 12 bucks versus roughly $30 for a similar sized Hammond box. Very sturdy, made in America. Probably twice the thickness of a Hammond box. 9'x13" Edited January 26, 2014 by thebes

mike stehr
Never thought of that, good idea. Here's a October 1956 issue of Radio Electronics showing the cake pan idea. It's still cheaper to just scrounge up a piece of wood.
fuzzydog
I'd pay $30 just to avoid going into a K-Mart.

I recall looking at a Chinese or Korean website where they taking toaster ovens and making them into tube amplifiers. I think this is Japanese... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3Dirsheln0 http://www.geocities.jp/al_salam_kaz/vtube4_e.html Edited January 27, 2014 by mike stehr
thebes
Thanks for the article and the utube links. Mike. I thought I was being original and clever, but it looks like other great minds beat me to it. Once it's built, I can build a wooden case, make some channels and slide the pan right into the case.
