John FitzGerald
How much better would RS - 7 be over RS - 35? Besides size, what are the component differences? Would Academy rears be an even better choice to match Quartet mains and Academy Center? Center Academy Mains Quartets Surround CDT-5800C II (...so would the RS -7 be to much to match these?) derrickdj1
Welcome to the forum John. What will be the front stage of the system you are putting together? The RS 7's are very large but, great speakers as is the RS 35. They both can pull surround duty without a problem. Also, will you be using a subwoofer? CECAA850
Comparing the RS-7 to the RS-35 is like comparing the RF-7's to the RF-35's or the RC-7 to the RC-35. They're in a completely different league than each other. As Derrick asked, what's your front sound stage consist of?
willland
The Rs-7's are big with a big sound. The RS-35's are medium with a medium sound. Both sound good but the RS-7's are just better. IMO, order of audible impact from Good----Best. Good----RS-42, RS-35, RS-52, RS-7, RS-62----Best Bill
John FitzGerald
Thanks for the responses. My fronts are Quartets with center Academy and a Rythmik HP15 sub.
derrickdj1
Either surround would be ok but, the RS 35 are a bit easier to get. I use the RS 35 and love them.
Sancho Panza
Bill, like the way you ranked them, thanks! The Rs-7's are big with a big sound. The RS-35's are medium with a medium sound. Both sound good but the RS-7's are just better. IMO, order of audible impact from Good----Best. mwiener
I originally purchased a set of RS-7s. They are wonderful speakers in every way. Great sound quality, bass response, efficiency, but they are a bit big. My wife decided I needed RS-35s instead. My RS-7s are sitting if you are interested with the original boxes in white. The weight 24lbs each and cost about $100 just to ship. I am using the Academy Center, Cornwall fronts, Heresey side surrounds, and the RS-35s as rear surrounds. I am really happy with it.
