Marvel Posted October 9, 2017 Share Posted October 9, 2017 We had a nice, steady rain here... all day. We needed it, and only had a smattering of wind gusts. I stayed in bed, trying to shake a cold. Wife left Thursday for a trip home to the Philippines for three weeks. Her dad is not doing well but she had planned this in the Spring. Never lived in or around mountains, but we have thought about it. I grew up at the edge of a city....Indianapolis. I moved about 20 miles out of Indy to a city of 20k people 15 years ago, even here, I'm on the edge. I've never really lived in a city. I have a niece that's a Purdue grad. Oh man. I was raised on fried pork, it can be yummy. I hate to admit it...I've never had gumbo, jambalaya, other than the Mardi Gras days at the church earlier this year. Actually Indianapolis has exploded with new restaurants, breweries, and quaint little hot spots, but somehow you lose some of the ambiance when it's manufactured new, to look old. I spent a little time around San Antonio, Gruene, and New Braunfels Tx recently (wife and daughter there now) and there are many places that are authentic, they are the real thing.
