A vaccination does not prevent one from contracting and spreading the delta variant, but it does protect one from serious illness or death. The current surges of serious Covid cases are overwhelmingly among the unvaccinated. As a Pfizer x 2 vaccinated person, I am more concerned about exposing the unvaccinated to the delta variant than I am about the extremely unlikely chance that I could suffer serious illness or death from the delta variant. When I wear a mask in public it is more to protect others, especially the unvaccinated, than to protect myself.
