Dave1291 Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Hey nothing wrong with being a pace setter! Take a good look at the kids today lately? 😂 Been calling for rain for the past two days around here. Dry as a bone again. It's showing on the radar but that's the only place I've seen any. Oldest daughter took my granddaughter to her first concert last nite. This morning when I saw her fb post it looked like she nailed it. 3 groups, the last was my grands favorite band, AJR. Don't ask me ANYthing about them either. It's a kids thing so ya go with it right? 😂 Soooo, I'm eyeballing the post, balloons w/led's in them sent down from the cheap seats. Yea, you know how the beach balls would hit ya like a ton of bricks, so I guess it's LED balloons today. Just a lot of good time stuff that was well planned by the daughter. Then I see a couple lines about how they met all 3 bands, the grand gets her "My FIRST Concert" poster signed by everyone, how the bands played "rock, paper, scissors" with her, how she came home with a t-shirt from each of the 3 bands, and some pin? Wait, what? Big venue sold out? How'd this happen w/o grandpa makin a phone call? Imma smellin a rat so not gonna say a word. Just glad they had a fantastic, from the way it sounds, time. I'll deal with the blowback later! 😂 Soundin like she made a phone call to someone I know. Nope, don't wanna know now. I'll deal. Sound about right @JohnJ since you met her? 😂 2 1 Quote

That means there's hope for me. Richard Thompson is still being incredible and we're the same age. 3 1 Quote

Dave1291 Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Grand sent me a text and wanted to make some money. Her gf has a birthday coming up sooo Grandpa get's tagged. Gave her the new sweeper to drive for about an hour and threw her 20$. She handled the washer & dryer but I got stuck putting the sheets on. So hit the DQ on the way back home and shot another 10. Sound about right? Thinking the last time I swept in here was before Christmas. It's really not in my job description anymore. 😂😂😂 1 1 Quote
Tarheel Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 Doc wrote me a RX for PT to address balance issues. Salem my physical therapist is helping quite a bit and has me walking every day. A pleasant 70 degrees for a change so no sweating. Think I will enjoy getting in a little better shape! Slow at first....... 2 1 Quote

"Weebles wobble but they won't fall down!" 😂 All good in the hood. Cool nite, warmin up, and rain, which we could use, coming in kinda maybe for the 4th. Spent the morning on the phone puttin out fires and laffin a lot. I THINK it's all under control now. Maybe. I just apply Nils Lofgren's quote as needed anymore. "The whole world's gone mad." For the infrequent reader's enjoy your 4th and have ya some fun. Guess that applies to the rest of the gaggle too. Independence Day yanno. The Fourth of July recognizes the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a significant moment in American history. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress successfully voted to become independent from Great Britain, and two days after that, the Declaration of Independence was adopted and signed by delegates representing the 13 colonies. Philosopher and Founding Father Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration and later became the third President of the U.S. Every year since the original signing, July 4 has been a cause for celebration. 2 Quote

Dave1291 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Local 4th display went up in smoke tonight. The price of fireworks must have gone up too from what I saw. They somehow dragged it out for about 20 minutes +/- 15. The cluster leaving was funny. I went into A J Foyt mode. Didn't take me long at all. Yup, sit there and wait at the blinking red light cause I know i can drive thru this old old gas station on the corner here. Zip, GONE! Rest of it was cake. Ppl in crowds driving are nuts. 3 Quote
Invidiosulus Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Our town fireworks won’t be until Saturday night. We are easy walking distance of the park in town where they set them off. There is an old hosiery mill on the hill at the top of our neighborhood that has a back parking lot that overlooks the spot where they launch the fireworks. No driving required. There is apparently a big party going on at one of the larger inns over by the BRP Saturday night. As soon as the town fireworks are done and I’ve walked the kids back to the house, my buddy is going to give me a lift over there so we can check it out. Supposedly he’s got our band booked for the Halloween party over there so it will be nice to check out the venue ahead of time. 3 Quote
