Dave1291 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Yea, know ya had a good time @Invidiosulus. Shirts & military gear are funny. So is a lot of the BS comin outta youngin's mouths today. That's even funnier. Youngest met some dude who just got outta the Army after 8 years. Stud stamped on his forehead for sure. They'd workout daily runnin 5-6 miles, etc. Bottom line? I'd put my money on either one of my girls any day of the week. He was tough though to hang w/her. So she told me about him cause I questioned. This n that, had pics of him over in BFE somewhere. Blah. Show me the money time kid. Ya real or Memorex? Told her to ask him 2 basic questions that he'd know the answers to if he did what he said he did. lol Epic fail on both. So then I told her to show him a few things of mine that she now has if he failed the test. She said he changed his tune in a heartbeat and never mentioned it again. lol Yea, he was there for sure but don't talk the talk if ya didn't walk the walk. Kids. Funny. I'd never give my daughter's hand to a moron. Simple. She wound up kickin him to the curb a while later. lol @Invidiosulus Jeff's a good man and he shared a part of his life w/you. The lack of lineage on the the shirt really meant nothing at that point in his life. A lot of us rolled that way daily at times. Ya made it outta there and who cares what you were wearing? Time served and f it I'm goin home. Ya got an entirely new wardrobe when ya got home anyway. lol Blah, wear it. Just another shirt w/a memory attached to it. One that you'll never forget. He was skoolin and a lot of us do that today trying to forget about it all. He's a good man. This place is therapy and I don't have to watch Dr Phil anymore! 😂 Bourbon in the basement? Come on man. It's summertime. Out back w/a Cuban chill always works. Save that sawdust til winter. Thanks for sharing. 3 Quote
JohnJ Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Thundering again outside, sun didn't come out today either. Going to stay soggy I guess. Fog warning on my phone last night for this morning... laughed the first time I saw that here. But I've got to say some edges of these skinny roads are steep & deep. Even with fog lights I've only been out once prior to first shift when one of `em was active. 2 Quote

I've been driving on the BRP before and gone through fog thick enough you could barely see the center line with your head stuck out the window looking right down at the pavement. I went out for a drink the other night at a little bar right off the BRP. Driving through town it was fine until the last 1/8 mile before the parkway where it was like to driving into a wall of fog. it’s neat how much the weather changes along the edge of the mountain there. 3 Quote
JohnJ Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 It does where I am also now. It is way different than the weather changes in FL though! 3 Quote
Dave1291 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 @Invidiosulus @JohnJ U2 are SICK! Mountains and fog? Driving? Ummm, nope NOT me! Have at it though. 3 Quote
JohnJ Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Hey man the newer foot-wide tires help a little... & You've seen how small my suv/thing is, it's just the other drivers. I don't like the BRP much up here, it's something @sunburnwilly would like in his Subaru, nothing but constant turning back and forth for miles going into town. I found another way! 3 Quote
Dave1291 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 @JohnJ you got those ceiling fans up or still lookin at the boxes? Keep it up and we'll be having a pilgrimage of old guys whining puttin 'em up for you. Hey, they can't throw ya outta that place it's yours now! Yea, @Invidiosulus, @sunburnwilly aka Mario and me? We ain't cheap! I'd take a walk back to the lake and find us a houseboat for a cruise. SOMEbody's gotta have one that's not around. You KNOW how I roll already! Good time for sure! 😂 2 3 Quote
JohnJ Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Still can't walk dude, nigh onto two months now! Getting close to time to put`em up. Without my stuff that means the bed for an hour. Don't know why he didn't use one of those coolers for the fish... they're easier to clean! Great pic & idea though! 1 1 Quote

Oh yeah , If I lived up there I would roll through two sets of tires a year easy 👍 5 Quote
Invidiosulus Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Before I started working from home, I had a 60 mile round trip to work through the mountains every day. On paper it’s a 45 minute drive one way. There were a few times I made it in 25 minutes flat. I’d typically go through a set of regular and a set of snow tires every year. 3 1 Quote

Dang, tires aren't $300 a set for good ones anymore... Charger took 15s (1979) RDX 18's (2024) Taking rejects from someone's else's order helped but it was still $$. 3 Quote
Dave1291 Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Maybe about 5 years ago for this flatlander. Had Pirelli's on my Porsche 928 so that was a different story. lol Loved that car. It ate everything up. 1 1 1 Quote
JohnJ Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 (edited) P-Scorpions now... but they're a bit different. Even have snowflakes in the title 25% less was the most they'd go down. Prelude SI had P-Zeros, it was the closest thing I ever had similar to that big Porsche's handling. Turn a 90 degree corner at 40 mph, no chirping at all! It made me forget about that 76 Camaro semi-tight turning! Rode in a 928 a few times but did not get to drive it no matter what I did!! * Edited July 25, 2024 by JohnJ * 3 Quote
geezin' Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 I run Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 SL on my WRX. A great all rounder that works well in the snow and rain on the Rex. Gives decent service life considering my driving habits in the dry. 4 1 Quote
Marvel Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 Subarus are great cars. I absolutely loved the Forester I had. The dealer was crap, but the car was great. 3 1 Quote
Dave1291 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 T-shirts are always a Rush! Didn't you know that already @Abomb? 😂 Duckburg! Blah! That is all. 1 Quote

My buddy Jeff is a generation older than me, a Wisconsin native(like myself), and a Vietnam veteran. Today his brother Bob was in town and had brought along some Wisconsin bourbons. These were very good. We chatted for a few hours and as things were wrapping up, Jeff told me he had a shirt he wanted me to have. This was the shirt he was wearing when he flew home from Vietnam. Dave1291 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Made the Kroger run last evening. It just keeps getting better doesn't it? Nuff said on that one. Wait, did you know that they have bottles of Duck Fat? Just an FYI. Honey I'm home and remembered to get the duck fat this time. 😂 Decided to make a nice muchroom/cheese ommmmlette with my coffee this morning. Midway thru the process it turned to scrambeled eggs since the "lawn care" dude showed up. Yea, it still went down but kinda tough to swallow knowing I was watching a wallet rape in process once again. 😂 Enjoyed the coffee sittin out back after he left thinking & listening to some tunes cranked. THEN the "outta the box" thought hit me. What was it? Shhhhh, I'm still thinkin. Only one reason it won't work as I see it but there's ALWAYS a work around right?
