Marvel Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Just had a call from Josh... He was about 8 miles south of their house where the cell service was working. Everything is still off, of course, but he said FEMA has a place close by their house to get meals and water. Cleanup has started. They had a laid back block party on their street last night, which he said would have been really nice if it weren't for the situation in town. Later, guys... 2 1 Quote
Dave1291 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Sad to hear about the situation but they'll all pitch in and get it done. Famlies might not agree on everything but when it hits the fan ya all pull together. THEN ya can really throw down the partay! Thanks for the update! 1 Quote

No power, no water, no cell service... The family will probably come stay with us for a while, whether a few day or weeks, we have no idea yet. He sent me this pic of their downtown. The water has receded, and is now a foot of mud. 1 3 Quote
Tarheel Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Neighborhood collection for flood victims tomorrow. LF approached management of Lidl and they agreed to help. Asked how big a truck we have. A good way to donate is send money to Samaritan's Purse.....they are on the ground there now. Asheville and other areas look like a war zone.....so sad. 1 3 Quote
billybob1 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 You know, can't say yet, understand there may be a pic of grasshopper was said. If one had the time and energy, just suppose enough clue to see if the forum has enough to determine the neighborhood (?) bar/lounge that he would frequent from time to time. Sure there are other ways like PMs that may have occurred with information. Having said, there maybe privacy concerns to consider. Just aloud... 2 Quote
JohnJ Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Samaritan's Purse: A real charity! Billy G and some folks at our church started it back in the 70s doing sneakers and blankets and stuff needed for fire victims. Franklin G runs it now and NO... he doesn't make $ off of it! 3 Quote
Tarheel Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Donations from Lidl grocers for Helene relief. A very good corporate neighbor! 2 Quote

I had even applied for a job with them in the Philippines, but they wanted a Philippine national. They do great work all over the world. While not started by him, Franklin Graham has been over the organization for over 40 years. 3 Quote
