Dave1291 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Beautiful day around Duckburg today. 75 but dropping to mid-60's thru next week so put the hurry up on things. Leaf patrol will be a comin and I can't wait. 😂 It's getting better every year cause these trees surrounding me here in Sherwood forest just keep gettin bigger! Gotta love it. Quote
JohnJ Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Low 40s at night, highs in the mid 60s by mid-week coming to my neck of the woods! AC unit has been relaxing and heat set at 57-60 might kick in next week. Tech guys from my ISP came by this eve, surprised me. Dude on the phone said he had cancelled an appointment I did not even make. He didn't like that I told him speedtest dot net was made for the ISPs, I was talking about real world scenarios. Canned response was "many different variables..." I called bullya and said I'm 60 and have heard all that before & I'm not wrong. Refrained from telling him how I fight msft to stop messing with downloads or opening a dozen tabs. Result? Monday morning they are coming back and moving the dish two plateaus, 30+ feet up to the highest level on my property. It will be right at the corner the cable comes into opposed to cat-e-cornered past the other end. Could possibly stop the interruptions of service 1 1 Quote
Dave1291 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Duckburg with a high of 65 today soooo it's coming! All clear around here. Carry on! 1 Quote
JohnJ Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Those tech guys? Don't know why they stopped by the other evening, because they did not come by today at all. Was up bright and early... ready. So I'll go take care of my stuff in town tomorrow early. 2 Quote

Should have a dispatcher to remind them technician. Hopefully, not on the job trainees. 2 Quote
JohnJ Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Same two as always, just a new idea for them that could have been nixed. They said first thing in the am, personally that's gone at 8am except for the new me that isn't even up and dressed by then sometimes. @billybob are 75 and 95 north only yet? 180mph with the pressure dropping below 900 (897) is a screamer! I can only relate to 100mph going through the trees with a weakened Hugo 3 hrs from the beach. That was way more noisy than a twister roaring a quarter mile away. 1 Quote

All I know is everytime I opened up a window some to breathe in the Volvo, it sounded like a freight train coming...that is tornado noise. As well as I appreciate nature, really felt that, hear my train coming song Yes they were talking low millibars with this Milton. 100 mph through trees , they may as well blow the whistle. Stay safe and, good customer service is rare at times, finding out here. 2 Quote
Invidiosulus Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 My favorite coffee shop was on our lower street downtown and under 10 feet of water on 9/27. They are working to rebuild their store but it’s going to be a while. This is the side street that leads down to the front of their shop on the right. At this point the water was about up to the awnings over the sidewalk. 2 3 Quote

Haven't about Hugo in a long time, it seems like Hugo was the beginning of Hurricanes being the unfortunate norm... Hey, been busy the last couple days. It's indelible in my mind like Betsy was in my mother's although when I got to her place she was shook some. I paid him no mind, thought it would be thunderstorms overnight since it would come from SC. Woke up to the heavy dempster dumpster sliding uphill in the parking lot. Eye went over six hours later! Had zero Blue Jays or Mornarch Butterflies there for more than twenty years after. 2 Quote
Marvel Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 When the wife and I have looked at property in the Philippines, we are looking inland and and at least 200 ft above sea level. Our favorite spot so far is about 700 ft up. Cooler, too. 5 Quote
Tarheel Posted October 12, 2024 Author Posted October 12, 2024 Yes I bought some K Horns from the west coast. Lets see if they can make it to the east coast unscathed. 1 3 Quote

Invidiosulus Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 My internet and cell service went out again last night so streaming was t an option while I grilled some burgers. The vintage Technics turntable, ART DJ pre II, Crown XLS1002, Klipsch KP-250, sounded pretty good from the neighbors yard across the street. 1 2 Quote
