JohnJ
It's not quite like that here Dave, but that's funny! Going to fire up that leaf blower tomorrow, I did last Friday... You can't even tell because the leaves are pretty deep even on the driveway. Things are different up here! 2

JohnJ
Five hours with the leaves? Dang. I'll spend an hour getting my ride cleaned up some before I head to the grocer and the gas station. Got to remember to get more tire-air also it's been close to cold in the mornings here. Took my bank up on their early payday thing for the first time today. So making myself wait until after I have coffee, sausage & eggs in the am before I do that run.
JohnJ
Evening folks. Did not mess with the air in the tires yet, it's strangely warm here now. So the 35 front 36 rear that goes into the low 40s after a few minutes of 50 mph is good. They're 50 lb truck tires anyhow, underinflated for the little suv. Highs in the 60s-70s, lows in the 40s-50s for the next ten days. Heck I left the blankets in the closet this morning because I have one of those weighted things for the bed cover. The electric bill will be at it's lowest this year I'd bet! @Dave1291 "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" 1 1
Dave1291
Clocks fell back last night w/the daylight savings time change @ 2AM. Ok, soooo, I'm staring at the puter like a zombiel seeing 1:59, then 2:00 then 2:01, til about 2:05 waitin on some miraculous thing to happen. Like YK2000 or whatever it was. So yea, then a text msg shows up laffing at me telling me it changed on his end somehow. So yea, it's almost 7PM Sunday and I'm still not sure what's going on. Is it 6, 7 or 8PM? I dunno. but it hit 70 today here, which is insane and mid-70's this week according to the weather geeks? Ok, I dunno. Gotta thunk some more on this stuff... I dunno and do I care? The earth is flat! 1
Marvel
Between the two hurricanes (which didn't impact me), I headed to work one morning and got hit broadside by a young woman. I was driving my 2018 Nissan Frontier. She hit straight on the left rear wheel, knocking the whole drive train loose separating the drive shaft from the tranny. I wasn't hurt at all, but they totaled the truck. I loved that truck, plenty of power for me to putz around, pick up some dirt, or whatever. Only had about 37k miles on it. Good news is her insurance paid off the balance and gave me about anith $12k to put on another one. This one has a 6 cylinder and double cab, but the same length. It's only got 27k on it. Getting used to the bigger engine. Got 25mpg today while I was out on the highway some. It drops quick if just in town. 2
Dave1291
@Marvel sounds like you stepped up your game a bit. That doesn't happen around here much anymore. Usually the insurance company makes out like a bandit, Sounds like you got quite the upgrade. Room behind ya for the grocery run, less miles and decent mileage? Sounds like you're a happy boy. Just glad you didn't get hurt. Hope it works out well for you.

RobMarshall
Hey JohnJ, The blue ridge got to be beautiful this time of year! I am a rock through away from you on the other side of the mountains. You ever come visit Renfro Vally here? It's Kentucky's answer to the Grand Ole Opry but affordable. Lots of good shows all the time. All different types of music.
Dave1291
Leaf duty around here in Sherwood Forest, Dr appts workin their magic and just finished up the last of my dental work today. An old local (now dead) dentist who was also an OSU grad told me 40 years ago to drive down to Columbus and hit the OSU dental school. Blah, no kids werkin on my teeth I said. Ya know what? I'm sick of the wallet rape. My local dentist passed a few years ago and I was looking. Youngins setting up shop a couple days a week in about 3 towns is what Duckburg has been reduced to over the years. Yup, they buy an old house and turn it into an office downstairs then rent the upstairs out to the hygenists cashin in all the way around. So you pay up to pay for the new equipment and the house payments? Tried a new guy people said was good. Yup, his wife was a dentist too. Even better right? He did the drillin and she had about 4 hygenists she honchoed. All playing beat the clock? Seriously? I had a wisdom tooth that had to come out so the dude numbs me up then walks in w/a 10' long pair of Channel Locks and jerked both his an my brains out to no avail. Ok, I'm done. Next man up right? 400$ panoramic x-ray, cleaning 250 then he filled ONE tooth for 350? Done! Oh yea, that tooth? A good ole boy from West Va married a friend a few years ago. Older and they lived up on Lake Erie. He had a side gig goin w/Aspen Dental makin some pocket cash. They bought a 3M house that's beautiful right on the lake. He cashed in. Popped that tooth out and I didn't even know it. Said he used weights. Right. I got a visual of a 16# bowling ball hangin on that tooth. Don't ask me. He said I'll be right back and 10 minutes later he walked in and used his fingers to just pull it out. That was an hour north each way every time. So I thought about OSU and what old Doc told me. Called, made an appt, got hooked up w/a Jr Dentist who's done this spring and ready for his state boards. What the heck. An hour drive south? May as well. First time in he nosed and got the game plan. 55$. X-rays of each individual tooth so he could see every angle of each tooth the next time. 104$ Cleaning 85$ Filled a tooth 110$. Last day today, he knocked an old loose filling out and refilled it, then fixed up 4 other ones w/some minor work. 205$ Factor in 10 or 15 in parking? Seriously? The real down side is you'll spend an afternoon in the chair. Why? The faculty oversee'EVERY move. Before and after. The kids have to totally diagnose EVERYthing then they either get told how the prof would do it or given the green light.. Then they check 'em out when their done. He did every bit of the work himself. He had a younger Jr Dentist assist w/runin the shop vac for the fillings. Crazy? Yea, really was and I saved tons of cash. Might wanna check it out. Tech schools for the hygenists and colleges w/dental programs. Get the f outta the box! The money you save over the years will pay for those K-horns ya dream of! I'm sold!
