Frazier 8" drivers

Recommended Posts

I just bought a set of Frazier 8" drivers. I couldn't pass it up. One works perfectly, and the other makes a buzzing noise. Could be the spider needs re-glued so the voicecoil is rubbing. In any event, if any regular forum member is in need, I will sell them for exactly what I paid. $19.99. I will have the Ebay purchase shipped directly to you.

What can I say, I couldn't pass up a pair of nice looking 8" Frazier drivers for $9.99 plus $10 shipping! If there are no takers, I will hang on to them until somebody out there needs a set.

Here are pictures (they really look nice!):

Here was the listing text: "or sale, vintage pair of the Frazier 8" woofers. Excellent cosmetic condition. One works fine, the other has buzzing so it may need some repair."

These will go to a regular forum member or I will keep them. Period.

Have them shipped directly to Millersound. He'll inspect them, tell you what's wrong, and then upon your approval repair them better than new.

Contact Bill;

http://www.millersound.net/service.htm

We maintain a large inventory of speaker parts but you should always call or email prior to shipping any speaker for service to ensure that we have the necessary components to complete the repair.

(We do not do automotive aftermarket speakers.)

Sorry MZ, the offer was for "regulars forum members" here. If you are in need, I can check them out and sell them to you. The cost will be commensurate with their value, plus shipping of course. I will let you know the shape they are in when they arrive.

I had no takers on the offer, so I am having them shipped to me directly. Ironic, I am capable of diagnosing and repairing these if need be. If there is one good driver in the pair, I got a good deal at $20. I posted a message in FUG to see if Todd knew the dimensions of the cap these 8's went in or the ts specs of the drivers themselves.

Yes. Bob Crites sells Sonicaps individually. Here is the page: http://www.critesspeakers.com/prices-capacitors-and-induc.html The 3uF is $9.85.

The Mark IV has 10" drivers. The Monte Carlo IV has 8" drivers.

Mustang, Thanks for posting that ad. I have a pair of early Manhattan's also, they have the 8" woofer and 3" tweeter, but only one speaker is orignal. I am trying to undate them, and get them correct. I did get some Frazier horn tweeters, what cap goes in these for the tweeter? same as Mark IV?- I did order the Sonicaps from Bob yesterday, I Crites for all my Klipsch Speakers, Bob is a great guy.

MZ,

I got the drivers in. The one that works has a small rip in going from the surround into the cone. It is definitely reparable. The other driver is toast. The voice coil is rubbing the former. It will need a new VC at minimum, and that is very tricky to pull do. The surround and gasket has to be delicately removed from the frame as does the spider. Then comes the tricky part, removing the voicecoil without damaging the cone.

The best thing for it would be a re-cone job, but it might be tough finding a cone with this odd shape. As it gets closer to the center, the angle gets steeper like a Tractrix horn (see pictures above). You can check around and see if anybody has this type cone. The VC is 8 ohm, and that is a good thing. If you wish, I can remove the backplate of the magnet and measure the VC diameter. A re-cone specialist will need to know that, the impedance, the depth, and the diameter to quote you.

I will sell them to you for what I have in them plus shipping if you are interested.
