Tongue hanging out, wagging! I loved the MX-1000, CX-1000 and CDX-1110U system I used to have. Dreamed of this setup. The finish is gorgeous! Uber rare trio that rarely comes up for auction and in incredible condition too!

I have the Yamaha M-80, C-80, T-80 set and a Yamaha MX-800. I just picked up a MX-1000 and C-630 this weekend (it replaces a set that I sold a couple years ago to finance my Klipsch purchases).

There is a MX-10000 on the UK eBay site for about $2800, I wonder what the reserve is on this auction?

Great looking equipment. I can only dream at the moment though.

Bump the bid just once. :P

Nice score you made on the MX-1000 and C-630.

It looks like Yamaha is getting back into building higher-end gear. The new A-S3000 stereo integrated amp even has both MM and MC phono preamps.

The look very nice, thanks for sharing.

If I had $7K, I would be bidding on the Centennials.

The old Yamaha amps are great. My M 80 is the best amp that I have owned. I have owned MC, Carver, Arcurus and some others. They are a true classic. Currently it is out of the line-up, so I need to figure out what to do with it.

It's definitely worth putting back in the rotatation for another listen.

for 8k I would be looking at Mac, I wonder what the guy originally paid for the centennial trio

This is a problem Yamaha and other companies known for making mid-range equipment run into over and over. When they make a really high-end piece of gear, it's seen as overpriced mid-range gear because of the brand name, no matter how good it is.

Ford ran into that with the GT. It was an excellent car, and cost only $150,000, making it a relative bargain among exotic supercars. It didn't matter how fast it went or how rare it was (only 4038 of the planned 4500 were produced), it was still a Ford, and not a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

If you're really interested in a high-end Yamaha power amp, look for an MX-D1. It came out in 2005 and quite possibly sounds better than the MX-10000 amp, if a bit less stylish, since it has no power meters. It does have a beautiful piano black finish.

MX-D1 specs: dual-mono construction with 100 dB channel separation, 500 Wpc, 120 dB signal to noise, lowest distortion in the 6-10 watt range, making them suitable for use with high-sensitivity speakers that will be running at low power most of the time. XLR and RCA inputs.

It's a Class D PWM design, meaning it's not really digital. It's a variety of analogue.
