Taz
Kids are a trip. But like kittens they grow up. The teenage years can at times be trying. But before you know it they are grown and you have grand kids to spoil. Mine were no angles, but we did have fun. Like the time I got up in the dark and pulled a length of toilet paper to blow my nose, then realized I should have turned on the light first. A mother will go to great extremes to protect her young. I've told my son he was lucky she was there that night. And we get a good laugh, but I always look at the toilet paper before blowing my nose anymore. Early grade school and Santa got em used motorcycles. I was riding with my son and a friend of his on some back roads, knees up to the handlebars when a car went by and the people just stared at me. Hell I didn't care, face covered with dust and sweat, s#!T eating grin on my face cause I was having fun with the kids. Kids are in their 30's now and I get to see them once in a while. But if any of us get into a bind you can bet help will be coming. Edited April 4, 2014 by Taz
beeker
My daughter has everything. At 16 maybe 2 of everything she wants and always has had. She dont seem as thankful as i did being i worked at least a paperoute at the age of 8. Anyhow she is very involved in church. All sports she does above perfect in all her grades(she does have to work on them tho its not so natural as some). I actually feel she appreciates love and family most. Even though she is a bit quiet as a lot of young people are. She at 16 goes on multiple cruises if not with me with family or family friends and vacations i have never even been on(due to lack of interest). All together I just feel children deserve so much and i donate time and money to those who are in need(more in the past as to my current situation). Animals as well digressing a bit. I dont want anything ever for a gift from anybody i am very happy. Gifts are for kids, thats my view. If ya want or need something then i will get it. Also at the same time I provide my daughter with a debit card with a very good monthly balance to provide her with what she really wants and needs to do. Keeps her independent with an understanding of money and a little budgeting wether she wants a new phone or new sports gear she can learn on her own. Im not bragging just stating how my daughter who has been under my roof from day one is raised. Kids are amazing and so many go with so little I just wish it was possible to do more for all kids that are in need. My daughter also donates from her hair to locks of love, clothes, computers, other gadgets and even money to those who have little all on her own. I have never held anything from her including personal to dangers and most importantly what i have learned. My favorite times have been while coatching her teams from ymca to middle school. Until my spine lost function it was the best thing i feel i could of done for all kids i could coach. Every single one of the kids i have ever coached are still involved in the sport i coached them in. This being so many years later with some. That the best feeling i can get. I cant walk 300ft at the moment but its not over yet lol blessings to all!

etc6849
Since I'm still a kid, I really want one of these watches so I can talk to it like **** Tracy: https://moto360.motorola.com/ Finally, in the year 2014 I'll be able to do all this with a watch: control my home using my voice (already do this with my android phone), make calls, check messages, check the weather, directions, etc... CECAA850
my youngest just got recruited to head up marketing for one of the quickly emerging hand held operating systems my oldest is on the account team for one of the longest running gaming systems of all time my middle one is currently in England, next going to Iceland, then morocco to do a commercial for one of the most popular hand held technology devices of the last 10 years Congratulations. Your children would most likely have been successful in whatever area they pursued. Giving them electronic toys didn't make them any smarter. They had to be intelligent to start with to be that successful.
Taz
I guess I won't know until I actually have some kids When I was a kid we had a neighbor that all us kids called Mr. Neighbor. Although he did not have any kids of his own, He had all the neighborhood kids. We all loved to listen to his stories of mining, panning for gold, and playing his accordion. He would smoke trout for the older kids for a share. Then he would share with the younger kids He gave me my first science class with the operation of carbide lamps like the miners used to use. He taught me how they worked, and warned me of the dangers of drinking from any stream coming out of a mine. He would show me how to make knives, but he never did teach me how he made his home brew. At least not enough to do it on my own. Roy was his name, but I never knew that for years. When I had kids they often spent time with Mr. Neighbor, and I knew this was good. When he passed away all of his kids that could make it attended his funeral. There were a lot of people there to honor this simple man that loved and was loved by kids

minermark
As I remember for me it started at about age 8, dad came into my room and found me taking the HO Gage trains apart, and I mean pieces. He as I remember like the set up also, and was not pleased at my Disection of my/his toys. He said he was going to leave and be back in an hour, and that train better be running, it was. From then on it was everything a kid in the early 60s could want, from Chemistry sets (Real Ones) to Erector sets. This kept me busy till about age 12.
Taz
I built throttle linkage from an erector set. Course I was a little older then 12. I Must have been a little slow, the PU would do 130 in third. Faster than I was.
oldtimer
I wasted all my time playing music. It turns out it's just a hobby for people to listen to. I've wasted the rest of my life doing whatever the H I want. People think I'm crazy but it takes all my time. My first wife often told me during heated discussions that it didn't matter because I was going to do what I was going to do anyway. I don't think my childhood toys had much to do with anything.
