Heritage_Head
I'm refinishing my old heresys and I have a question. When I pull the back off it has nothing in the box. No padding or anything. Did they come this way? And if not what should I put in them.
Coytee
My understanding from Roy is if they felt a speaker needed padding, they added it. If not, they didn't.
Heritage_Head
So some heresys have and some don't? Sorry kinda confused me .
DrWho
My understanding is that PWK was against internal stuffing since it lowered the efficiency of the cabinet ever so slightly. I've seen inside a lot of Heresy cabs and don't ever recall seeing any stuffing.
DrWho
Btw, I've also heard the same thing from Roy.....it's probably why it's only added when deemed necessary.
Schu
heresys are not ported... would it really matter if there was or was not batting? fyi, you can buy batting as Klipsch used directly on the web
CECAA850
There was also no gasket sealing the back to the cab. It helps to add one.

I asked him the same question and he said: "I wanted a pure capacitance." no stuffing in Heresy's I or II, unless someone not from the factory put it in there. djk
A small piece of something would reduce reflections coming back through the relatively thin cone, that would be he only reason to do it. Wouldn't hurt to try it and see if it's a problem for you, same way for a back gasket, stiffer back, etc.
muel
My 1976 Heresy 1's had nothing but the 1985 2's had a roll of foam over the top of the woofer. I left it in when I upgraded with the HIII kit.

Heritage_Head
These had the non removable grills. But someone pulled them off and just spray painted the front black.Looked really bad imo. They also put on crapy gills so i bought a minty pair of grills on ebay to match my cornwall grills. I then painted the front with duratex and tuned out great. Edited April 5, 2014 by reference_head
