beeker
wow. maybe a variation or custom build with klipsch drivers in the cabinet but them are different whatever they are?
Chris A
Looks like a Rebel--a loudspeaker design that PWK once stated that he "...was not proud of.". The top round opening behind the grill cloth looks to be a direct radiator cone driver: the tweeter and midrange horns are missing. opusk2k9
The shorthorn and rebel were available mail order as a kit. Crossovers, tweeters, etc. as options. See 1957 price list for an example. It could be rebel frame and components swapped.

beeker
Thats what i suspected shorthorn or rebel, if anything although they are so rare. I also noticed the chrome center cap a jbl design. That is a very rare speaker. Would be nice to collect and get back to as far as possible original specs with grille etc...

beeker
They are already listed on here somewhere. It was decided they were possibly rare and no doubt approx 63-64 shorthorns with a jbl top speaker with the metal dustcap. I'm surprised nobody has bought it or them if it does happen to be a pair...

Moderators Youthman Posted April 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2014 I honestly thought it was totally not a Klipsch speaker and maybe it was just a clone someone built. Pretty interesting.
Moderators Youthman Posted April 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2014 Thx Beeker. It was a few pages back - here
toolz
I see the listing has been removed. Did a forum member get this speaker? Interesting piece of Klipsch history.

billybob
No matter, good find! The Rebel speaker. Betcha, if I were a betting man, sounds nice enough. Price reduced as thinking according to other thread, the posting went away!?!
Moderators Youthman Posted April 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2014 What do you mean the posting went away? I started this thread not realizing someone had started the other one
