justinsweber
Has anyone used Amara symphony? http://www.sonicstudio.com/amarra/amarrasymphony_irc I use amarra hifi currently and really enjoy it. I do most of my listening from CD rips and wonder if worth it… I can evaluate the sonics, but… Has anyone used? Did it leave the music lifeless? What were your impressions? I have 2 room side by side, each with speakers. I wonder if I can have 2 different profiles and optimize both rooms.
paul79
Absolutely love Amarra here. The latest version is very good, and the room correction is a nice feature that actually works. Not difficult to do either. The only limitation is not being able to play DSD files (yet) but if up to 24/192 is all you need, there is no better player IMO. muel
Don't worry about DSD, Paul. Just convert them to PCM at 24bit/176.4kHz. Not sure what tools do that with the Mac. There is conversion software from KORG and Jriver will convert for PC's. Korg is a bit of a manual process... have to bump the db's down a bit or you might have clipping- Don't worry though... it won't affect dynamic range. Perhaps I'll have to bring my audio PC down for a little comparison... or you can bring your Mac up. I suppose your customers would probably prefer that you stay at your workbench! It would be nice to hear some good comparisons of Mac vs PC audio setups. You can find reviews all over the place but nobody ever seems to compare the two with both setups being high end and used on the same system.
