I found this motorboard yesterday at an auction.

Got it for a dollar, cant complain there but I am having a hard time identifying the midhorn driver, crossover and perhaps what speaker it came from.

The mid driver shows 10 ohms dcr.and the horn flare is 20 in. wide x 3.5 x 12 deep.

Only the tweeter has a data plate it is a T35B.

The woofer cutout is 13.5 dia. and as you can see the midhorn is wider than the woofer.

When I searched google images the horn and woof looks to be the same width.

And the crossover has more connections than I am finding when looking at other EV crossovers.

Golly you guys are good here. That driver is a T10. Both it and the tweeter checks ok on my meter. I dont know what I might do with it. The drivers aren't that efficient at 52 db. Those EV speakers sure did cost some coin for the late 50s.

I feel to have found this in a trash heap that was being sold as srap metal. I asked the auctioneer to seperate if from the pile and gave me a glare for only a $1 bid.

When I saw the horn I had to investigate. I might use it for a center channel.

I think it is a home built from an EV building block series.

Back then Electrovoice would sell you a woofer. Then the next step was to add a tweeter with an outboard L-Pad. It came with a crossover in a can (as you show). The next step was a midrange with yet another crossover in a can and another L-Pad.

I have some literature someplace. I built a Wolverine version which was a low cost version with a sort of small midrange with an integrated driver.

I'm not sure what is going on with the wire through the grommet. I didn't know EV did that.

On your board I see a space for the second crossover but no indication it was ever present. There is also no indications of L-Pads. But if you have more wires than devices, this may be why.

Do you see any lettering on the woofer which would allow for identification? They started selling these kits before T-S designs were known in the US. But maybe there are T-S parameters available if you have a number.

The woofer was not there so it will be only a guess as to what was original.

The baffel has decent looking routed cut-outs for the horns which would lead me to believe it to be a factory board.

There is a marking inside the midhorn showing that it is a HD-6...... then -6 is for 600 hz crossover.

The tweet has a sn 33855.

Above the input terminals on the crossover is the ink stamp 82099, maybe it is a serial no. also.

Coming through the grommet is 2 different cables. One is connected to the tweeter.

The other has 3 wires in it. The schematics I am seeing shows an L-pads in series with the drivers. So I'm not sure what it is for.

Last night I removed the xo from the baffle hoping to see inside but the can has a bottom cover plate that must be pressed in.

But not using the original xo shouldn't be too much of a concern. With all the schematics on the EV website, I will be able to build a new one.

So that leaves me to pick a woofer and build a cab.

There is a EV 15BW for sale in Illinios that is very tempting right now.

An open baffle is an interesting idea.... yet another option to explore :)

I have a pair of K24s that are not in use and was thinking today of a KLF 30 vairant.

The cab size and lower crossover design is already a known and is a good place to start.

Dave Malette has a factory original EV Georgian 4 blueprint with exact dimension etc. that I sent him in hopes he could render it into something that could be put on the forum for the use of future generations. PM him about it. Don't know if he every got it together but I'm sure he could maybe zerox it (its rather large) and send it along to you. Also go to Seti's blog, Hifispot I do believe it's called. He has all the original Ev sales brochures from back in the day that I sent him.
