Save Amy!

Very few absolute statements are defensible, and it is a sophist tactic to attack an argument by applying a literal interpretation to a general statement. However, in my experience representing teachers, administrators caught between budget constraints and state requirements are all to often willing to scapegoat teachers to save themselves.

Our city's school board is so bad/incompetent/corrupt that the state is in the process of removing the school board and president. It's been going on for years and has come to a head now that their budget is 25 million short for the upcoming year. The corruption is wide spread. We even had the FBI here a few months ago to grab up a couple embezzlers that were on the payroll. The state said to cut expenses any way you can but use personnel (teacher) cuts as a last resort. Of course they've slated over 200 teacher layoffs and scheduled to close a school the just spent 8 million dollars renovating. They've renewed contracts of vendors proven to have given falsified receipts, given the president automatic pay raises, paid administrators when they've been off for months, "lost" booster funds and literally stolen from the taxpayers. If you want a good laugh, google Beaumont TX Independent School District. They're currently in court spending taxpayers money fighting the state takeover when everyone has told them it's a lost cause. Hey, it's only money. The local district attorney threatened imprisonment if they held the last scheduled meeting to discuss layoffs in private as they had planned. The TX Rangers are now present at all meetings. (NOT the baseball team LOL)

That is sad to hear regarding your experiences representing teachers. Perhaps it is your location (NY) or the unionization of the teaching profession (including administrators) w/collective bargaining rights that causes administrators to feel empowered to scapegoat teachers for "whatever" reason.

We do see that happen here with both teachers and administrators, however it is not the norm.

What if we were all to chip in, buy Klipsch and fire the a**hole who let Amy get away. We could then hire her back as we would be the new owners!

Then, as a bonus, we could start using screws and plywood again and not hot melt and mdf.

Working for a company is still WORKING for a company, no matter if it's Rolex, Ferrari or even Klipsch. Its not all chits and giggles. We live and breath Klipsch on our time when we feel like it. We don't get it force fed like most of all our everyday occupations. Amy is obviously moving on to greener pastures. As much as everyone will miss her, we all need to be happy for her.

Who said they were not happy for her? But my bet goes with this being a monetary and opportunity based move which has nothing do to with Amy being happy working at Klipsch.....anyone that think another job is going to make them happy is just plain delusional. A job is a job is a job do it long enough and you will get sick of it. Quit working and turn your hobby into a job and it becomes just that a job...

So IMHO leaving one job that you have everything figured out on for another that doesn't offer major buck improvement or proven advancement opportunities (even better both) is just plain rolling the dice...

Yeah, I think enough has been said about all this. Lets have a little respect for Amy and her privacy in this instance and stop dissecting this whole situation. Spamming e-mails to Klipsch and all that BS is just that.
