Vintage amps, rec, tuners FS. Luxman integrated amp $200

Recommended Posts

List of Equipment with pics HERE

I am selling about 50 pieces of vintage audio equipment for a buddy, and about 60 fifteen pairs of vintage Frazier speakers. Klipsch Forumites will get first choice before I open this up to national sales.

I want this to be open ended for discussion, more than just simple questions on buying a piece, so please post as you want, there is no such thing as "thread crapping" on this thread.

In brief, I have Marantz, Luxman, Fisher, Onkyo, Sherwood, Sansui, and Adcom electronic pieces, and more.

This will be a separate thread later, but there is a speaker brand I am told is known to Klipsch people, called "Frazier." I have heard these and they sound incredible. I will have about 50 15 pairs of them available soon.

Let me stop here, and link to the first Craigs List piece, two Luxman L-80 V integrated amps. Located in Morgantown, WV 26105.

for those into mods thought I would mention that when rebuilding vintage amps like Sansui Luxman and Adcom a friend of mine has converted them from the stock transistor output stages to mosfet ones, very nice and makes them more or less indestructible. Not a simple mod but thought that some would be interested in knowing that it can be done. Hope this is of interest. Best regards Moray James.

To me modding or rebuilding these receivers is a waste of money. I don't even believe in recapping my xovers or buying aftermarket xovers as I don't like the end result.

I promise to immediately rip apart any vintage gear I buy from this thread or any other and replace as many capacitors, resistors, wiring and other components, whether they need it or not.

Catch of the day: I have a nice, new 135 wpc modern Onk AVR with all the bells and whistles, but I think the sound of that Sherwood receiver, #14 on my list, blows my Onk into the weeds. I would describe the sound as "open" and clean as a whistle.

All those amps/receivers listed sound pretty good (and there is more to come, ie Adcom) but that Sherwood may be the sleeper best value in that group.

I like the Sansui AU and higher end G-series receivers. I think I am good on speakers at the moment.

Cool stuff. It must be fun to try them all out and compare sounds.
