What's with the guest designation replacing the name of a forum member who posted earlier in an old thread? Has the member left or been banned? I noticed this when updating an old thread:

https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/72504-ported-la-scalas-photos-and-review/

I tried a search for the forum name and got nothing. Is this occurring in other old threads with other former members?

That is speakerfritz. He changed his name and removed his photo.

I think it may be when a user account is completely deleted. I've seen this type of 'user name' replacement for several of the old user IDs for which I had been saving certain information for my diy projects.

Speakerfritz's user account being the most recent that I'm aware of, of course, he could probably register under a completely new user ID, but I haven't really read any posts that seem like him. However, I've wondered what did happen to him and why he may have left the forum.

Maybe some people lost there user name with the Klipsch migration to the new forum. Just a guess.

I know that Speakerfritz had thousands upon thousands of posts, so many will be his; however, my reference was that I've seen the situation occur before the forum conversion where the Guest_" "_* user ID replace user IDs that I had read their posts. Now it just becomes impossible to track down something that he posted when I want to revisit it.

In Amy's new role, I'm not sure if she will see this; however, maybe her replacements Wick or Ander will weigh in and add clarification?

He asked me to delete his account, which WOULD have changed his posts to be by "Guest_speakerfritz", but before I had a chance to delete it, he also changed his display name to " " (just a space). So that's why it ended up like that.

In order to preserve the posts of the deleted, the system changes the "posted by" to Guest_blahblahblah, because a posted-by name is required.

  • 1 year later...

Truth be told...someone had posted as to what was known about a handful of members during the flood.  I responded with what I was going thru...details of which included a ruptured appendix and no medical care for more than aweek due to hospitals and such being closed due to the flood.  I was running around helping folks anlong with most of the locals not relizing how bad my condition was.  ultimately go admitted but by that time most of the organs on my right side had been fused due to infection and septic condition....cant pass solid food...etc.  took about a 100K loss in property damage....lost two cars and a motorcycle due to being laid up on medication during the flood.  family barely got out....community did a poor job of waring folks, etc.

when I updated the folks who inquired as to what had happend...someone jumped in and made the comment that these tribulations could not have happened to a better person.  I was shocked by the comment and decied to delete my ID thinging something I did or said really offended the person in question.  for what ever reasom...the delete did not happen and instead my ID was renamed to ".".

that was 3 or so years ago.

Ive wonderd what happen to a large group of you guys and poped in once in a while as a lurker....its amazing how the active crowd mgrates out and new memebers take on the active roles.

health wise I am surprised I am still here...been living off baby food since that's all that can pass thru my system now.  lost a lot of weight, etc.

haven't spun a record or CD in a few years and I have some decent gear hooked up but unpowered in quite a while.

From 2005 to 2012 I spent quite some time here with varying opions that swayed from left to right and back to the left.

If something I said or did, offended anyone....my opoligies.

My current ambition is to raise money to fight cancer.  My son battled with lung cancer and ultimately was cured....he slipped away a few times but we were able to get him to hang on and he made it.

Its my personal guest now that all forms of cancer can be cured so that no one will be lost thru this dreaded condition.

the next time you pass a walk for cancer poster, see a motorcycle rally to raise money for cancer, or want to donate to an important cuase, think about helping out........lets cure this for everyone in our lifetime.

god bless and best wishes.

It's really good to hear from you.  I've also had some health issues that kept me from participating in my usual interests and passions.  None are as serious as what you are going through.

I hope you continue to improve and get back to fully healthy at some point.

As you can see, you have been missed by a number of members.  If there were one or two who were not your fans, forget them.  The rest of us are happy to hear you're still around.

Glad to hear from you, hope you make it through everything that has or is happening, sorry about your son, along with your health problems.

Everyday we go through life thinking, I have it live is good, then all of a sudden a nasty hurricane or some other natural disaster hits(rather it be weather or cancer).  Then your life gets turned upside down,  there is no stopping any of this for anyone, all I can do is pray and pray for you is what I will do.

Keep in touch if you feel up to it.  Thanks for the update.

Not that I saw.

Welcome back!  Your deep practical knowledge and wisdom on audio are missed.  Stick around: these young whippersnappers around here need the adult supervision (...including the moderators, too, I might add... ;) ).

Last I remembered was you rebuilding your house... having to level the slab, etc.

I knew you had the time in the hospital, too. Glad your son has made it, and your new quest is very worthwhile. Don't stay a stranger!

Bruce

ps  Still have the crossovers you sent, too, but not a working pair of LS at the moment.
