Moderators Youthman Posted August 12, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) Chad, I've been noticing that there have been several of my threads where images that I've embedded no longer are showing up. I host all of my images on my own server and insert the images into the forums. Tonight I was looking through one of my LaScala threads and noticed there were several photos that were not loading. When I looked at the URL for the images, part of the URL had changed "LaScala" to "LaScalas". For example, the correct URL for one of the images is http://www.soleproductions.com/forumfiles/Klipsch-LaScala-6.jpg but somehow the forum has changed it to http://www.soleproductions.com/forumfiles/Klipsch-LaScalas-6.jpg so the image was no longer loading. Seems like anytime I named my images LaScala-1.jpg, LaScala-2.jpg the forum changed the URL's to LaScalas-1.jpg, LaScalas-2.jpg. It seems like the forum is changing some of my URL's for some reason (which isn't cool because it's breaking embedded images). Moderators Youthman Posted August 12, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted August 12, 2014 Here is the image embedded properly. On my computer, the file is called LaScala, on my server it's called LaScala Here is the image embedded that the forum has changed the URL to LaScalas which causes the image to no longer load. Administrators Chad Posted August 12, 2014 Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2014 that's a new one.... Anyone else reading this having the same issue? And is this just happening on older threads?

Moderators Youthman Posted August 12, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted August 12, 2014 For grins, posting Michael's image link to see what happens.. It works because it's the correct URL. Try posting http://soleproductions.com/forumfiles/Klipsch-LaScalas-6.jpg and you will see the image does not load because that's not the correct file name for the image that is on my server. For some reason, the forum is changing the URL. I see both mine and OP's posts clear as day... I can see both of your posts fine. You mention you can see mine but do you see two images posted in my second post? You shouldn't because one of them isn't the correct URL. I've been hosting my own images for 10 years since I've owned my company in Website Design. Pretty sure I'm doing it correctly. LOL

For some reason, the forum is changing the URL. Right.. I was testing to see if the forum changed the URL when I posted, and it did not. beeker
I didnt know if Boxx pulled the pic or it expired in some sort of way but I had removed his answer to this thread after the pic went away. Seemed premature for it to have lost the image. link to thread https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/149494-who-still-listens-to-2-channel/page-2#entry1719225 Edited August 12, 2014 by beeker

I had to delete a ton of pictures when the forum changed over. I was trying to get under the limit so I could post off my computer again. I finally gave up as I was so far over the new limit. Moderators Youthman Posted August 12, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted August 12, 2014 Can you link one of the threads that the image filename was changed on? Here you go https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/149465-youthmans-first-heritage-speakersthe-lascalas/ Right.. I was testing to see if the forum changed the URL when I posted, and it did not. Ah, good idea. I didnt know if Boxx pulled the pic or it expired in some sort of way but I had removed his answer to this thread after the pic went away. Seemed premature for it to have lost the image. link to thread https://community.kl...-2#entry1719225 It doesn't appear Boxx has an account. Image URL is http://s817.photobucket.com/user/Boxx44/media/MIM.gif.html His account would be http://s817.photobucket.com/user/Boxx44/ which says "Page does not exist". Administrators Chad Posted August 12, 2014 Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2014 That's really strange. i can't find any evidence that the forum changed the URL. I see in that thread someone had quoted the original post with the bad URLs (you've since fixed the OP URLs). I'm not even sure how it could on its own (maybe websites are going to take over the earth before robots do?) hehe

Yeah, I believe when I noticed it, I fixed it in my post and in the quoted post. I'm not even sure how it could on its own Yeah, I thought it was strange too. Thought maybe the forum ran some sort of spell check and tried to "correct" the spelling of LaScala. Who knows.
Moderators Youthman Posted September 5, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted September 5, 2014 Hey Chad, just wanted to give you an update on this.... I was looking through my build thread in the AVS Forums and saw a post that was missing 8 images in one post. Looking on my server, the same thing is happening. In my post in the forum, I used rs-62 and on the server, the filename is RS-62. I had previously called my host company and the rep said that URL's are always case sensitive but I don't think this is correct since I don't ever change filenames once I upload them to the server because they will break the URL in threads that I have linked to them. I'm going to give them a call again. This really stinks cause I have literally hundreds and hundreds of photos that I have embedded in the Klipsch and AVS forums. That is very frustrating but I wanted to let you know at this point, I'm leaning towards something changed on the host end, not in the forums.
