Coytee
I'll admit I love a good pretzel. I've even gone so far as to buy online 'pretzel salt' so when we make them at home (soft pretzels), I'll have the proper salt for them. (the salt is different in case a casual reader doesn't know) I'll admit, I'm also a salt-a-holic. I often joke that the food I eat is nothing more than a salt delivery vehicle. (bp & vitals are all fine) I've gone so far in the past to become frustrated while looking for a good pretzel, saying to myself "I wish someone would make a pretzel with extra salt....if they did, I'd buy it in a heartbeat" Well pretzel & salt lovers, I stumbled onto that just yesterday. For those who are not salt-a-holics, they make 'normal' pretzels but WOW, these are fantastic. I'm not going to eat a bag of them on a Saturday afternoon but I sure enjoy one or two at a time. http://www.uniquesplits.com/

Coytee
We're planning on dipping a couple in chocolate to see how that turns out. We did pretzel rods last Christmas and it was a huge success. I like the interplay of the pretzel, chocolate & of course, the salt.
The History Kid
I prefer vanilla myself. Chocolate has never done it for me except in rare cases. Might have to try these with some home dipped pretzels and toppings for the holidays.
Coytee
I stumbled onto them at a 'boutique' butcher shop / bakery in town. Not sure how to see where their outlets are (if any)

Chocolate and something salty go great together, we have done that with pretzels before, very good. My mother told me when she was little they would get a chocolate bar to go along with popcorn at the movie theater, So I tried a little chocolate with popcorn, it's good. My favorite is very dark chocolate, almost not even sweet it's so dark.

tnr
So Coytee, do you have a recipe or recommendation for soft pretzels? I miss the old days with the big soft pretzels in the malls with mustard. I rarely get to a mall these days...it's been years. They are too far away. Moderators dtel Posted September 13, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 13, 2014 I have to say I have never tried one of those big soft pretzels, seen them but never tried one.
tnr
Really? Add that to your bucket list. That's an easy one to check off. Hopefully someone can offer a good recipe. Eat one and that frown will turn into
Coytee
To be honest, the most tasty I've had is Auntie Anne's at the mall. They will sell a box mix that has everything you need (but for my taste buds, insufficient pretzel salt) I once tried them from scratch. I now realize some of the mistakes I had, they were an epic fail, coming out like bricks. With just two of us here, the box of Auntie Ann's is too much so I cut it in half (could probably cut it in quarters) Still.....they are veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good. http://www.auntieannes.com/ The box mix is here http://www.auntieannes.com/more/home-baking/homemade-baking-mix (edited to correct from Auntie Emme to the correct Auntie Ann) Edited September 14, 2014 by Coytee

I know where I'm going on Tuesday then. Could use some Parm-Garlic wings as well.
