Moderators Youthman Posted October 20, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted October 20, 2014 Yes, I had already visited that page which is why I asked if they were the Pro Version of the Heresy. It looked like a Heresy, just didn't know if it has the same qualities as the Heresy.
Thaddeus Smith
Pro version of Heresy II, with a nice robust crossover - including a tweeter protection circuit. I picked up a pair earlier this year and am using them in my HT setup with good results. Not ported, so they have good mid range but are a bit anemic on really low content.
Moderators Youthman Posted October 20, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted October 20, 2014 Thanks Thaddeus. That's more what I was asking. Didn't realize they were Pro version of the Heresy II.

jjptkd
Looking at the specs and driver compliment it appears as though it is identical to the Heresy II except for tweeter protection and cabinet materials??
Thaddeus Smith
You are correct. My pair is raw birch (which someone stained at some point) with factory installed eyelets and a metal grill. Very toddler proof, has a surprisingly high WAF, and provides a certain amount of "crank it up" safety with that protection circuit.
colterphoto1
It is a Heresy II, (you can tell by the K79 tweeter horn), with a different network and usually pebble paint, corners, handle. But as TS noted, like Hersey and HP, HIP, they were frequently custom ordered for churches and schools and came in a multitude of cabinet styles. Actually they do better in the LF department than the beefier KP250 with it's 200 watt woofer and port. Usually it's a sacrifice of low bass for more output on these models. mustang guy
That's right. The port on the 250's lets them go louder, but not as low. Before I learned that, I always assumed porting was for lower frequencies. The 201's are sealed up just like their civilian brothers, the H2. I have a couple pair, and I like the portability. OO1
I like the grille that is screwed rather than with velcro strips -as you can see-through the cabinet - Edited January 25, 2015 by Randyh
jjptkd
I think you might be confusing the horn lens for the actual driver / magnet assembly. The k-76, k-75 & k-79 all use the same horn lens.
colterphoto1
They have more bass than their big brother the KP250. One time I set up a H, 201, 250, HIP and we all liked the 201 best for overall response.

I was speaking somewhat anecdotally in my earlier post since I've used these at an 80hz crossver to my sub almost exclusively since I got them and so very little listening was done with them unassisted by the sub(shame on me).
