Jim
I just purchased a pair of RS-3's used and they have some peeling vinyl on their cabinets. This is the paper thin vinyl that is on the covers. I wanted to know what the best way to go about repairing them would be. Is there a glue I can use to try to just glue the area where it's peeling, or is there any vinyl I can order to put on them?Or does Klipsch sell replacement cabinets?Attached is a picture. Any help is appreciated. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTA2NFgxNjAw/z/lCEAAOSwcu5URwgj/$_57.JPG
The History Kid
I think the cabinets for the RS-3 are long gone. I've got a pair of beat up ones that have some vinyl receding on them as well as peeling. I'm sure a revinyl would be the best solution outside of building a new cabinet. Jim
yea, I may take them either to a leather/vinyl repair place, try to use gorilla glue, maybe just peel it all off and prime them and paint them over with a sturdy oil based paint. I thought maybe a very strong fabric spray glue also. I got them for $110.00 for the pair, so for the $10.00 for a oil based spray matte paint it shouldn't be that bad. TasDom
I would just peel it all off and light sand the edges and then apply some Duratex. http://store.acrytech.com/Speaker-Cabinet-Coating-DuraTex-Roller-Grade-Black.html The trial size would be plenty for a couple of RS-3's http://store.acrytech.com/Speaker-Cabinet-Texture-Coating-Duratex-Roller-Grade-Trial-Size-Kit-Black.html Edited November 5, 2014 by Tasdom

Yes, matte finish and the rollers nap type will determine the texture. Can be brushed also for a smoother finish.
