actually we are taking notes while working on this projects and after this first sample is done we will write a construction script so that we can build it in a faster way and with least tolerance. we need to build some jigs to make everything easier.

these are back doors ready to be assembled:

building the last piece is dog-house which is a vertical reflector:

believe or not these four little parts took more than five hours for me to build!

I cut a hole through the woofer mounting panel to the back of the reflector so that little volume will be added to woofer back chamber volume:

the dog-house is much more complicated than stock LS. oh man I feel I can build a pair of LS in less than ten hours!

thanks for watching.

to just let you know what we are up to. we worked on two dog-houses. they differ in some aspects. the pictures posed above are the first version but our money is on the second one I'll build in next few days. we will test both to see how they perform. so far the second version modeled better in Akabak with a woofer from an Italian manufacturer.

  • 4 weeks later...

sorry I was badly busy during past weeks. I didn't have much time to work on the speakers. I've sanded the bassbins and they are ready to be veneered. I think I'll do the job in a few next weeks and sure I'll post more pictures to let you know what is the result.

Sweet, sweet work!  If you did your calcs correctly, it should sound great!

thanks man :)

Did a final pic ever get posted or am I being teased     :D :D :D

not yet but I'll do it as soon as possible

beautiful work sir....and thanks for all the pics!!!

thanks

Wow!  Very nice!

I'd consider going without veneer on the sides.   I think the curved walls could look wonderful if you are able to clean them up enough.  All the layers of ply might look pretty good exposed!

+1 on the idea of going without veneer and just staining and finishing the sides.  IMHO, it makes for a very nice 'finish'.

Found this picture on a Google search.

beautiful - fantastic quality

nice veneer - but dont take it wrong -  the stacked disk  birch finish is perfection -modern - the layers are a wonderful perspective and as the cabinet curves - it is flawless -

yeah it looks very nice. at first I wanted the speakers veneered but after I saw this picture I changed my mind but if one wants to have a finish like this, he/she would use PVA glue. urethane glue will leave traces as you can see on the picture of bassbins before veneering. I'll built the next pair without veneers and it will look very nice

Arash, it's looking great! That grain on the veneer will look really, really nice once you get some finsih on it.

I saw this link on your website. Is any of this project yours?

thanks Bruce,

yeah that's right. the veneer will look totally different (hopefully better) when a finish is applied.

yes that's another project I just finished. it was inspired by Magico Mini a 30K bookshelf. there is a timeline reports if you are interested: part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
