Arash, it's looking great! That grain on the veneer will look really, really nice once you get some finsih on it.

yeah that's right. the veneer will look totally different (hopefully better) when a finish is applied.

yes that's another project I just finished. it was inspired by Magico Mini a 30K bookshelf. there is a timeline reports if you are interested: part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6

the speakers are almost done. I'm building the grills. the horn and tweeter section is yet to be covered by fabric. there are a huge lot of pictures I'm gonna resize and upload in next couple a'days.

Living in Iran makes it harder for our friend Arash to get some of the items that are easily obtainable in the USA.  I'd say he makes up for that hardship very well.  His work is spectacular.

 

that's right. ordering something from PE for example will be a two months process for us! from US to UAE or Turkey and then to Iran and everything will cost at least 2X the real price. but on the other side we are authorized dealer of many brands you guys should buy for higher price in US (like BMS, Beyma, B&C) that we can have for 35-40% off the real price. :) thanks

after veneering I let the cabinets lay for a while. about a month or so. then it was time for a finish:

at this point I decided to sell the speakers for a lower price so I replaced D405 midrange with BMS 4592. the woofers are also Bob's CW1526C instead of much more expensive custom woofer:

I decided to use spikes only for the front side of speakers so a set of 4 would be enough. I used a solid piece of walnut wood as the third foot at rear:

thanks dude :rolleyes:  actually the grill cloth I used has very sensitive x and y fibers as you can see in the pictures it's lanes are not on a line although I did my best. Bob's fabric has a strong texture and is easier to work with. but after all I'm satisfied so do my costumer who wants to buy them.

I'm wondering how a speaker consisting of Jamboree bassbin and top section of above speaker will sound like :rolleyes: I think it will be a better-sounding speaker overall and considering higher efficiency of Jamboree if the CP25 is replaced with a more efficient tweeter (Faital Pro HF108 with Elliptical horn) the final speaker will be ~106db efficient. any idea?

Please consider having the tweeter time aligned Arash. I have been experimenting with this extensively and we have chosen the tweeter vertically, horizontally aligned over all other placements. With impulse response, you can fine tune the placement.

 

I suggest using a delay for aligning with the bass too, as with Klipsch we cross around 300-350hz minimum and is quite high and the effects are audible. I really cant understand why people do not care about time alignment. I think it is because people did not have the chance to hear aligned or at least more aligned horn systems. When you spend time with that sound, and then turn back it is very easy to hear the difference.

 

Also jamboree is very high and the midrange and tweeter will be even higher. This creates a soundstage like a stage you hear from the pit at a concert :)

I totally agree about time-alignment. mis-aligned drivers will ruin the music intervals and the result will be a bunch chaotic frequencies not getting along together. but that's what happens in most speakers. I've tested countless of times the tweeter alignment in Klipsch speaker (LS,Khorns) I can detect the right tweeter in a blind test immediately. Anahita speakers (also Vittoras) and many many other commercial and non-commercial speakers out there also suffer from mis-alignment of components.

could you explain a bit how you use impulse response to find correct timing?

I think I can manage to build a angle-adjustable top hat for the Jamboree. Jamboree is much much easier to build than Anahita or Khorns you name it. CNC come handy here. the bottom and top plates chould be engraved as all other side walls and internal parts could be easily stick in the exact position. that will probably make the most precise Jamboree geometrically :)

As I have a music studio, its easy for me. I have a few multichannel sound cards and microphones. You don't need a measurement mic for this, but you need at least a two channel sound card.

 

You need to setup a loopback for reference purposes so that the program doesn't take your impulses automatically to t=0 That is a second channel feeding itself for reference.

 

Then, in rew, just use the loop back as the time reference

we have Clio fw-11, Clio Pocket and another measurement system with ECM8000 and UMM6 working with ARTA and REW. I don't know if the Clio could be used for time-alignment. another issue that has dominated my mind now days is how to find the acoustic center of a driver? I know the acoustic centre of a driver is not where the coil ends or is glued to the diaphragm. I'm looking for an effective way to determine the precise sound fountain. I have no idea how this is possible using the equipments we got here

Why do you need to find the acoustic centre? If for alignment purposes, what I say is incredibly precise method to do it.

 

Your mics are ok, and with REW you can do it. Juts get a multi channel soundcard from someone.

 

I dont know about clio, maybe it is already capable of doing it, you should ask people who use that.
