Moderators Youthman Posted July 19, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 19, 2015 Or you could ask them to go out for an hour, not arriving back home before _____, and turn off your phone. She was going to do that tonight for me but we've been quite busy getting ready to host 30 of our family members at our home tomorrow after church. So, Youth, looks like you are back to this solution too? Partially....my thought is to run Audyssey. The LaScala Trio will bottom out at -12db. I will take the loudest LaScala and match the rest of the speakers to it using my db meter. The real question is, did you answer the door? LOL She had a key. Maybe you should do it manually with your ears, (like I did) you might get better results . I don't see how I would be able to match exactly the levels of each speaker using only with my ears. Also, Audyssey does more than level match.
Moderators Youthman Posted July 21, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) I was finally able to test all 8 positions without any noise interruptions. Here are the results using the recommended 8 positions from Audyssey Edited July 21, 2015 by Youthman
Moderators Youthman Posted July 21, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) For comparison, here are the original testing results using closer positions than what is recommended by Audyssey. Scrappydue
looks good now check the levels of the surrounds and subs compared to the mains and report back
Moderators Youthman Posted July 21, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2015 So as you can see, moving the mic 1' further away from the MLP didn't really change the results from Audyssey but this will ensure that I'm doing it properly. Headed there now Steven....stay tuned...

Moderators Youthman Posted July 22, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 Bill I am not doing any correction tables just straight from my meter
Moderators Youthman Posted July 22, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 Also I have not changed the crossover settings. Do I need to change them before doing the levels or does it matter
Moderators Youthman Posted July 22, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 And for the correction tables I'm not sure how that would work since I'm using the pink noise or whatever sound that's coming from the speaker levels menu in the Onkyo
Scrappydue
you dont need to before the tables i doubt it will change one bit. and as far as that correction table i dont think you need to worry about it with the pink noise.
Moderators Youthman Posted July 22, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 I just figured out why you had me turn the subs only up to 76 instead of 79 that's because when you have two subs you get a 3DB gain
Moderators Youthman Posted July 22, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 Do you guys think I should change the crossover frequencies to 80 Hz?

willland
Do you guys think I should change the crossover frequencies to 80 Hz? Surrounds maybe but leave the fronts as is and see how you like it. Bill
Scrappydue
Do you guys think I should change the crossover frequencies to 80 Hz? 100% your call. i set everything at 80 just to make sure there are no phase issues. but your trio of horn loaded 15's may play 50-80 with less distortion than your rsw-15's. let your ears be the judge. now that i think about it aren't the la scalas rated down to 59? id cut them at 60 at the lowest personally
Moderators Youthman Posted July 22, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2015 I believe it was Dean that shared a PWK document stating the LaScalas go down to 70hz
