Rivernuggets
Is that white latex or oil based paint? First off, I'm not the one who painted these! I don't know. If a quick check is possible I can assess. Say, with mineral spirits, would oil based come off and latex remain?
Rivernuggets
even if you trashed the cabs ( don't do it ) you have $600 worth of parts on the inside That's why $500 is the lowest I wanted to go. Any more and they could be hacked apart for easy profit. Not the end I had in mind for these.

Thaddeus Smith
i'll leave it to the paint experts, but I believe latex peels off and oil based does not.. if latex, the cabs may need to be stripped before painting so that it doesn't peel off later as the base layer continues to age. muel
Seeing how thick that paint is I'd go after it with stripper either way. This would be a fun project! A lot of labor and a little money would give you some very nice speakers!
Rivernuggets
I believe latex peels off and oil based does not.. I haven't noticed any peeling. This would be a fun project! A lot of labor and a little money would give you some very nice speakers! A little money I've got! It's the labor time that moves me to sell. The small amount of free time I do have is spent listening to music. Too big for my shop otherwise they'd be in there. Thaddeus Smith
You need a shotgun before you need more speakers.
ZEUS121996
I have a couple shotguns. I'll take it if you pay for the flight, lodging and goose hunt. Does $1200 cover that?

Mark much cheaper to repair the cabs than make new ones - plus the decorators Verticals was IMHO a better made cab as well -
Speakerfritz
it would be easier to remake the cabs. Bondo and repaining is messy and an art.
ZEUS121996
It's going to be bondo and veneer, grills are being made. I am needing some help so Im going to put it in the tech threads Mark
