JL Sargent
With a list price of $299.00 it seems to be a winner. Least priced DAC that uses the Sabre chip that I know of too. https://www.oppodigital.com/headphone-amplifier-ha-2/headphone-amplifier-HA-2-Features.aspx Edited February 25, 2015 by JL Sargent
Schu
I might get one to just check it out... keep your eyes on the garage sale section in a couple months.
kaiser SET say
Wonder how it compares to the Furutech ADL Cruise @ the same price http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ADCRUISE
JL Sargent
Couldn't stand it and ordered one of these. I'll report back after I get it.
Schu
Oh nice... I have not ordered as yet. It does indeed look extremely nice. Let us know.
JL Sargent
Yeah, I'm gonna use it with a notebook computer and a smartphone. I verified that Oppo provides the Windows driver I'll need.
Schu
I was contemplating on getting an Astell/Kerns 240, but I think I will just get this unit now.
muel
I would have ordered already but I'd like them to be able to push 600 ohm headphones. Looks like it will go up to 300 though... just not enough for the AKG 240df. For my use a $299 price point is probably the most I would spend. JL Sargent
Of course the Oppo is peanuts in money vs the AK240. I bet the Oppo DAC chip is superior to boot! I don't seem to be able to find what chip is even in the 240?
Schu
Cirrus Logic CS4398 oppo site says sold out already... that's a good thing.

JL Sargent
Received the Oppo HA-2 DAC this morning and wanted to report a few thoughts about it. After fiddling with the connections and switches it started communicating with my notebook computer. I turned on my sound system and was off to the races. I think it's a known fact that Oppo makes quality merchandise and this dac appears to affirm that. The switches and volume control just seem nice and crisp to me. I decided to listen to several acoustic FLAC tracks on my two way basement system to get in a good test session. The speakers I use down here are JBL 2441/JABO round horns on the top and JBL voice of the theater short bass horns on the bottom. Crossovers are active and I had been just using the laptop to do the D/A conversion. As you might imagine, I was really impressed with this dac compared to that! All else being equal, the music simply seems more detailed and really clean. Really makes my previous setup just a little muddy if you will. It's still very new but so far I'm really pleased with this purchase. Cheers! Edited March 4, 2015 by JL Sargent

Schu
thanks for that short write up... so far those have received theirs have been universal in praise. I called oppo and they said at least 2 more weeks before a new shipment comes in.
