It's Finally Here!

As of 1240 PM today, I am officially a Fusion owner.  As some of you remember, my first Emotiva purchase was a couple of weeks ago when I landed a sweet deal on an XDA-2.  Prior to that, I had also gotten a great deal on a Fusion 8100 - but would need to be patient as it was in for repair.  The waiting finally paid off today.

Safe for a few minor heart attacks related to my own stupidity and rushing of getting it setup - things worked like a charm.  It sounds brilliant, puts out some killer sound, and handles HDMI switching with a good amount of ease.  I have not yet tested anything outside of it's PLIIx and stereo (also direct) modes, but I plan on toying with those sometime soon.

My RX-V2500 has been moved off to the side as Mix-Out duty for my two RB-3's...it will eventually get replaced by a Sherbourn 4Z-75 amp.

My heart attacks came from some poor management of devices on my part.  The first issue that came up with a steady popping in the speakers (all of them) when no audio was playing through my computer.  I tested multiple cables, and different inputs - all with the same result on the computer.  However, if I used my Blu-Ray Player, none of that noise was heard.  When putting audio through the HDMI though, there was no popping noise.  It's only when there's no audio going through the card on the computer.  That shouldn't be a big deal now that I have a device that will effectively handle HDMI codecs though and can be used via the Blu-Ray player.  Not to mention the DAC...

The second heart attack.  For some reason or another, my computer was not finding the DAC after the Fusion showed up.  I tried unplugging it at the computer, and back in.  I tried rebooting the computer, the XDA...with no results.  Finally, I decided to unplug and reconnect the USB at the back of the XDA.......only to find that I never plugged it in in the first place....wow.

As it stands right now, I'm chilling to some Jeff Lorber Fusion ("Chinese Medicinal Herbs" for those who wonder) and am gonna sit back and chill to some good tunes for the rest of the evening.

Obligatory photos - pardon my wires...I'm replacing the back fabric on this stand:

Nice. Hey, I had those heart attacks too when I got the new RF7ii. After moving the old ones and placing new ones in place, couldnt figure out why no sound coming from them till I noticed I never plugged the wires into back of speakers. And people say cables dont make a difference??? They do when you dont hook em up!

I'll be curious what you think of the Fusion. I have been eyeballing it but decided to go another route.

So far I'm in love with it.  Having been a Yamaha-fan for quite some time it'll take some getting used to...but I'm really liking what I've been hearing so far.

I am eventually gonna want to see what exactly is going on with the HDMI on the computer though, as I can't quite understand that.  HDMI audio eventually stops when there's nothing playing on the computer, but it just seems like those intermittent pops shouldn't be there.  The computer is about 72 hours old...so that shouldn't be the issue, and the HDMI stuff on the amp was what was fixed.  So I can only guess it's a setting somewhere that's causing it, or something inside the wires I'm using.

Oh, I certainly am.  What's nice is the Yamaha is keeping up now that it only has to dish out to two channels.  The RB's are blending with the rest of the room just fine - something I was extremely worried about when switching was the difference in sound.  Nope...not so.  The Fusion's putting out just the kind of sound I like, and with the DAC handling all of the audio files I can throw at it - it's been a winning combination.  Monday is shaping up to be the most fun - since I'll have my first full 24 hours with it.

Also, I can't get enough of the blue lights.  My favorite color looks sexy on audio gear.  No pissed off neighbors here, just one that knows good music when he hears it blasting from next door.

Do you have the F 20 going with this setup? I was/am really interested in the Fusion but Emo says out of stock. I'm a fan of the blue lights as well. That would match the Panamax M5300 blue lights.

Are you referring to the Synergy speaker?

Actually the only Synergy I own is a KSW-15 from way back.

The Fusion 8100 is powering RC/F/S-3 II's, and the Yamaha is powering a pair of RB-3's.

There is a Fusion on eBay right now, last I checked the bidding was at $417 for it plus shipping - including 4 years warranty, box, and remote.

Ah, no...I have a Polk PRO660 sub on this setup, and it'll probably remain that way for quite a while - probably until after I'm done with school. I'd love to get ahold of an RSW or an RT...or one of the Velodyne's or SVS subs, but that's not in any foreseeable future unless I win the lottery. lol

Man, if I had one I'd let ya use it till you get one but I think the one you have is better than any extras I have. I enjoy helping those that further their education to make something of themselves.

That ebay price seems high but I may be off. Emo sells them new for $ 499.00. (Assuming they continue selling them).

IbizaFlame, not sure if you are aware but you can run one or two amps from your XDA-2. If you use the balanced outputs of your XDA-2 to the amps you can simultaneously run one or two powered subs from your RCA outputs. I just hooked up a sub to run with my first gen Heresy's and it sounds really good.
