It looks like they've decided to keep the crossover guys in business. They've even gone back to those flat yellow polyesters so they can shrink down the size of the PCBs. I believe that there was a "transition period" where the 1980s generation of Cornwall II line was started where they had boards similar to your picture before the crossover was mounted on the terminal cup.
