DizRotus
My Onkyo AVR has 12Volt trigger that activates when the Zone 2 speakers are activated. I don't have any Zone 2 speakers. Can I adapt the trigger to trip a relay to send power to sub woofer amp? If so, what is a source for relay? Your suggestions are appreciated.

Someplace in the specs for your Onkyo, there is the voltage and amps output for this, and it aint much, it pretty much is safe for powering the coil of a relay and that is about it. DizRotus
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't clear. I wasn't asking whether the trigger could power the fan, but how to pull the trigger without Zone 2 speakers. Something more elegant than sending power to phantom speakers. I miss the switched an unswitched outlets on my h/k x30 receivers. The Niles AC-3 would do the job, but is there a less expensive DIY solution to mate a 12 volt relay to a power strip? mustang guy
My Integra allows me to specify which trigger works with what. I can make my B 12V trigger be zone 1, or whatever. Does your Onk have setting like this?
