rbtwsp
This may be a dumb question but here goes. I have been thinking about buy something from the Heritage line(used) La Scala or KHorn and also a vintage tube amp Fischer, Scott or Sherwood. The speaker terminal connections on these that I have seen use pan head screws (fairly small). I currently use a modestly priced set of cables with bananas. Is there a way to convert the terminals, I've seen some rebuilds where they mod the chassis and add binding posts. Is this is what is needed or is there some kind of adapter? 001
you can upgrade the terminals... but anything newer than about mid to late 80's k-horns & lascalas should have the bigger binding style posts. i only see the small screw type on older speakers. It shows 8 mm wide so I would think so but I'd measure to be sure.

Bubo
I use the HW store fork spade connectors, crimp them then solder them. Same thing I do on motorcycles where I use ring connectors for safety.
Karsoncookie
Wouldn't a much cheaper (free) option of cutting off the bananer plugs be an option? Unless one is concerned about the suppossed value of the cables? It certainly is the most direct path also, although certainly any of the above should be fine as well. . Masterflysparklestick
I don't recommend these spade adapters. After two days hooked up one broke clean off at the screw connection. They are pot metal. Good idea, but........... Went with crimp/solder spades.

pite
solder solder solder with enough flex... or simply bare connection with wire strands - make sure in this case not a single wire strand is touching anything else... This is how all of my 10 gauge wire connections are made on 9 speakers and at AVR... Edited March 30, 2015 by pite

muel
WTF? Those two gold sleeves look pretty dam close together! Yeah one bump and fried Amp here we come ! That is the MOST INSANE pic iv seen in this forum for I'd say that is a valid concern! I have similar adapters that I use on some vintage equipment for quick swaps. I always keep electrical tape wrapped around one of the connectors just to be safe.
rbtwsp
I would think there must be better quality lugs that are other than pot metal, and on my bananas only the male end is bare metal
pite
Certainly requires a heat shrink sleeve on them to avoid shorting out those connections... best is not to use this type of banana jack at all. Asthetic apart, it might fry amp channel if not adequately protected.

Masterflysparklestick
Yeah, sometimes I'm an idiot. I did see the problem though and placed a small piece of cardboard between them. One snapped off which hastened the removal of all. Please forgive me.
