Tight budget--KLF C7 alternative thoughts needed

Patience pays off usually.

The KV would be the better one of the two you've mentioned. I did find a KV-2 on eBay the other day for $70 shipped too. There was also a KLF-C7 with a sub and towers in Missouri going for $600 not too long ago. Taking the C7 and selling off the rest would have probably covered your expenses.

That is a good strategy, could be an option. I used to own a C7 but sold it years ago--I remember it being more laid back than the klf 20s I used to own--almost out of timber with the fronts. I have kg.5 as surrounds to the klf30 and, to my ears, sound better than the s6 did. That's really what sparked interest in the kv line of center channels. As I have bob crites' mids in the 30s I'm thinking about upgrading the tweeters to Bob's titanium diaphragms--including th kv-3 if purchased. Love Bob's mids--no titanium mid swap out as no desire exists to mod crossovers.

C-7 prices seem to vary a bit so it may be worthwhile to keep watching Ebay, Craigslist, etc., for a while. Also, whatever you get, it needs to at least be sonically close to the rest of your speakers. I had one of the KSF's as a center for my KLF-30's for a while and it was NOT good. You get more wiggle room on your surrounds than you do on your center, imo. Best of luck. Chuck

So true, I used to run ksf-s5 surrounds with my old klf-20 and they sounded horrible...zero cohesion. The ksp-s6 were better, but still somewhat off.

Thanks for all the info...just committed to the kv3 for, the price was within my limited "non essential-home budget". Should be picking it up this week--will post thoughts after I spend some time with it and after I finish fixing the basement from the flooding we experienced.
