Hi everyone, I have a pair of heresy 2's,2 pair of kg 2's a pair of kg 3's and a academy center. My question is what pair should be my fronts and what pair for my surrounds. My kg 2 are 4 ohm and would that be too much of a stress on my amp?My amp is a onkyo tx-nr709.Please help.I know it's not the best set(s)for timbre matching. What should I do or buy to make my system sound great.thank you

I would put the Heresy 2's up front, the Academy in the center, the KG3's as side surrounds and the KG2's as rear surrounds. The 4 ohm load of the KG2 shouldn't bother the Onkyo receiver... from what I looked up on the Internet, it's specs include 4 ohm dynamic power ratings, so it's built to work with a 4 ohm speaker. And though the surround channels can get a good workout with movies, they're not dealing with the constant output of the front/center channels.

Most people agree, for movies and 5-channel music having identical speakers across the front is the best way to go. So if you have the room, another Heresy 2 in the center would be the thing to do. If not, the Academy would probably be the best 2nd choice.

If you decided to upgrade from there, going to Heresy 2's all the way around (with a good subwoofer), would be a really nice system.

As with any setup, it's all a matter of time and how much money you can spend, to get what sounds best to your ears in your room.

Not sure where you live but there is a set of KG 5.5's for sale for $100 bucks in Idaho:

If you put those up front with the KG 3's as surrounds and the KG 2's as surround back and the academy as a center you would have a phenomenal home theater system. Then you could use the Heresy's as a separate 2 channel setup in a different room etc.

I agree & add, use the 2d pair of kg2 as Height, or Wide.

You may only use 7 speakers at a time; but, I think you can have more hooked up & change whether Heights or Surround Back are used...

Well yes. May as well just to see if you have all ranges available, bass, mid, high.

Switch would not necessarily hurt to be on 8@hm briefly at low volume.

That unit sounds like well built for 4Ohm.

Let someone else tell you. Meanwhile, use the 4 Ohm switch.

Or the 6, I wanted to say.

How well the receiver handles the load is the test here. Could isolate load until assured by use.

It has a fuse?
