Have for sale my Don Allen 1626 Monoblocks.

I will say, you will have little luck finding much on these. If you are interested, and are locally within the MD/DC/VA area, you are

certainly welcome to audition.

These amps seem to be somewhat rare.

The are not the last word in audio - but when I spoke to local DIY hifi-audio community,  everyone recommended I seriously consider them because of the price/performance factor. I've only owned a handful of tube gears, but I enjoyed these more than I enjoyed my restored Eico, Scott, Fishers, Welborne 300B DRDs, and my Music Reference RM-9.

I only have one complaint about them (and the reason for the sale) - I wish they had a little more headroom. Don't get me wrong, the can get plenty lound on my 96db system, certainly louder than normal listening levels. However, if I am listening to one my my favorite songs, and wish to really crack it up - they eventually give up before my ears do.

Thus, it is with a heavy heart I have to let them go.  I would have sold something else instead, but decided to sell these as they would be better suited for someone with even higher efficiency than my system (i.e., north of 96db - Cornwall, LaScala, Khorn, etc.).

PM me for pictures. I was lucky enough to purchase these from an estate sale and my total costs including shipping was $825. It would be ideal if I could recover my cost ($825+shipping). Give the diy-like nature of the amps and silly slow summer sale season, new price for klipsch forum members for $725+shipping

Cheers,

I believe this is a variation of the "Darling" amp which uses a single 1626.  In this case there appears to be 3 tubes in parallel (my guess) which would bump up the output power to maybe 2-2.5 watts.  I don't see a volume control which suggests that this is a power amp which would necessitate using a preamp.  Some pictures of the underside of the chassis would let a prospective buyer see the build quality which is always worth noting.  Hope this helps...

Listening to a 1626 amp as I type this and I love it, I would not say these are like the 300B though IMHO the 1626 is much closer to the 2a3 /45  My experience with 300B single end was much warmer Think honey / syrup...................

I have not heard the Don Allen Versions but the darling circuit is right up there with some of the best SET amps available with a huge cult like following

want more info search darling amp on google

Just wanted to add that I'm willing to consider partial trades for the following items:

 - subwoofer drivers (pair required)

 - high power solid state amplifier for bass duty

 - Acoustic Elegance TD15H drivers (pair required)

 - and maybe, a preamp with dual outputs.

I may consider other items, but the above is really what I'm after

BUMP!

I need these to move - at this point, I'm open to reasonable offers.

There sound truly amazing for my already low asking price. I'm so confident that you will love these that, if you are in the MD/DC/VA are, I will even let you audition in YOUR system before committing to purhcase.

Joe,

The tubes are as follows:

Tung-sol: CTL-1626
RCA:6BC8
Sylvania: 6BY5

Additionally, if one was interested a purchasing these under a payment plan, say 25% of cost per month over the next four months, I will even be willing to accomodate that (though I will request you have at least 1,000 posts on this site).

Whoop Highest bidder but reserve not met I guess our ideas of cheap Differ  :D

Haha - I guess. I don't mind sharing on this forum that the reserve is set to $650. Is that really asking too much for these amps?

Epay and paypal together will take a chuck out of that (say $100), leaving net sale proceeds of approximately $550.
