Memorial Day, the Fun Part...What are you doing?

Didn't see another thread and didn't want to sully that holy place with the fun part, so, what are you doing today aside from remembering the ultimate sacrifice?

St. Louis Ribs dry brining, and will be given a dry rub massage and into the smoker about noon for a 530ish big meal.  The PAW's awesome potato salad, and, of course, beans.  Will be chasing it mainly with Session Beer, the brand not the type.  Love that stuff...best "session" beer ever and takes the idea way up a notch.  The dark is, IMHO, by far the biggest bargain in beer at 12.99 a twelve pack.  The Full Sail page says the recipe is a pre-prohibition one.  The lager is excellent as well.

Lonelobo (Ron) will be over in a while and we'll play with the Tympani III's I wrote up elsewhere and listen to a variety of stuff.  Circus music...  :P  included.

Probably be in the pool as well.  The PAW is a believer in Dave the Weather savant.  When the big rain passed yesterday I took a look outside and told her I thought NOAA was smoking something, as they had us at 90% rain today.  Just checked and they've reduced it to 60% and I think they are just trying to save face.  It's bright and sunny with a cool bay breeze and the flags are flying beautifully.

I cooked two sacks of Louisiana crawfish yesterday for friends and family. Had, Monaco GP recorded and played that, and watched THE 500. The skys parted, the Sun came down, and it was a beautiful day after 12 straight days of rain.

Today, relaxing and enjoying the day. Re-reading The Naked and the Dead.

Humm, where to start. Washed the wife's van, pulled into garage oppsy just a little short. Garage door comes down and instead of the force sensors reversing travel the motor pulled the 2x4 the header was mounted to from wall and everything came crashing down. NICE! Seems the builder simply toe-nailed in a 2x4 vertically with only3 nails instead of spanning two studs. THANK YOU.

So why don't I have a tennis ball hanging down so you know that you are in far enough? I did, she didn't like it and pulled it down. I hate every possible thing about that Odyessy and have since day one. Yea, it is that car's fault.

Doing nothing at all, 70% chance of rain through Thursday, so this means I need to find something to do in the garage or I will go nuts, supplemented with going out to the bar to hang.

Ya'll are just to fancy.  I did the following:

Finished putting my backhoe swing cylinders back on

Reinstalled the alternator on the backhoe

Reinstalled the alternator on the tractor.

Cut my yard (not a big deal)

Cut the field (a much bigger deal than my yard)

Moved a ring of rocks, about 80 lineal feet into the front bucket of backhoe.  Rocks about the size of a basketball.

Climbed through two rows of huge blueberry bushes (about 12 feet tall) to cut down weeds & vines trying to choke them out

Restrung the string-trimmer

There were a couple small things.  That was most of it.

Dinner was skipped in lieu of crashing & going to sleep.  Oh, I did have a bowl of Graeters chocolate chip ice cream.

That was a nice way to end the day.

Ron (Lonelobo) just left as we working oilfield stiffs have to be at work at dark thirty to keep you guys in that way too cheap gasoline.

Ribs were very good, and we put a variety of material through the Maggies.  I'll leave his opinion to him, but they really vary.  Equal to K'horns on the clock noise in DSTOM, but Louis Armstrong's trumpet sounded weak on my extraordinary Audio Fidelity record.  Variety of issues in between...but certainly worth 20 bucks just for a lot of fun.  Running up against K'horns isn't done by just any speaker, and they did pretty well all things considered.

Well, I've been trying out my new kamado style grill. Started out with big-*** steaks which I think were probably kinda like T-bones except twice the size. Tonight was chicken thigh night with multiple types of dry rubs. It was a mixture of bourbon and coke mixed by myself, and lemon drop martini's mixed by some big breasted guests. Watched American Sniper on the HT for the first time. It was a good weekend.
