Island of Roatan, Belize City, and Cozumel are our ports of call. Looking forward to it!

If you want some ideas on where to go on Roatan and Cozumel let me know, I could show you some nice places to go in pics, and how to get there easily. We usually just go to places where there are tables and waiters who bring you whatever you want to eat or drink, right on the edge of the water where you can snorkel on the reef without huge crowds.

Have fun

I do believes I kin hangs which u fo' awile.

Great job Michael. Looks like you love birds   had a blast.

Thanks Bill.  We truly are blessed to have such an amazing marriage.

Very cool video, your really good at that, to me video it really hard, I don't even attempt to make it look like you did. Well done

Thanks dtel.  Video editing is extremely time consuming and honestly, I really don't like doing it....at least until I start doing it. Then as I'm editing, I get excited and I typically am pleased with the end result.

I'll have to let you know when we head to one of those locations.  Would love some pointers.

Heck ya!  I'd love some pointers from anybody that's been down that way and could point us in the right direction.  It'll be our first time.

I know where the GoPro snafued....

You really think it happened here?

Ok.....maybe that is a possibility.  Still unnerving to watch the video.  I honestly do not remember ANYTHING from that video.  Not sure if I was in and out of consciousness or not.  One of the guys in the video says I was groggy when he arrived.

We walked down to the closest beach, then we came back to do our snorkeling excursion, got back on the boat for lunch, then took a taxi to Atlantis.  Since it was after 5pm, the Aquarium was open and free.  We decided to save the $12 taxi fee + tip and work off some of the food we had been eating by walking from Atlantis back to the cruise ship.  During the day...it would have been no problem to walk a few miles.  At night...it was a bit sketchy.  LOL.  Needless to say, I removed most of the cash I had in my wallet and placed it inside my shoe.

Ok I will put some pics of where we go and how we get there but I don't want to ruin Youthmans thread.

OK, I will look and round up some pics first, thanks.

I never even played that skiing video again, don't need to see that again, I could imagine how you feel, you were lucky.

I definitely count myself blessed.

Even before that crash, but that day could have been a lot worse, I bet your wife was worried, at least until you smiled like that.

I kind of did something similar once, you think the snow is soft and it is mostly but not everywhere.(depending on speed)

My problem, not counting lack of any skiing skills was the closer it got to closing time the braver I got = bad.

I ended up laying off the trail in a frozen low spot afraid to try and move, I was sure something was messed up. But after moving each limb a little I realized how lucky I was and got up and snow plowed slowly back to the building feeling like I was beat up. I was so sore the rest of the trip I could hardly move, it hurt to even sit up in bed.

You injured yourself at Smuggs I see.  I typically go try to hurt myself at Jay Peak as the water park is a great finish to a day after being on the slopes in the cold.  Lots of places to ski in VT.  We get season passes to Bolton but rarely go.  I prefer something that I can control - a snowmobile!

We are headed to Bermuda next week but I don't like hassling with a camera.  My wife wanted to get a GoPro but I reminded her whenever we go on a vacation and bring a camera it rarely sees use.  Plan to use my phone camera nothing more.  We are going snorkeling over some shipwrecks in the Bermuda Triangle the afternoon we make port.  Going on the Norwegian Dawn out of Boston.

She was extremely worried.  The ski patrol called and told her I was in a snowboarding accident and she needed to come to the ski patrol office.  It was cold that morning so she was going to wait until noon to come out and ski so I told her I was going to take the opportunity to hit the terrain park.  Fortunately, it was day 4 (last day) of our trip and we had gotten plenty of skiing / snowboarding in.

Scary stuff right there.  It happens so quickly too.  Guess that's the case with all accidents.

Yes, we were at Smuggs.  We typically drive to Snowshoe, WV so this was our first time skiing up North.  Absolutely beautiful.  Next year we are headed to Colorado since we have never been out West yet.  Can't wait for that trip.

I'll be honest, the GoPro is an AMAZING camera.  It's soooo tiny and takes such great videos & photos.  This year, I used my cell phone to take all of the photos that I uploaded to Facebook and I was really disappointed in the quality.  My iPhone 6 doesn't compare to the quality of the GoPro and especially my Nikon D7000 but I really didn't want to lug around a huge DSLR for the trip.  GoPro is even making a few new cameras that are very budget friendly ($129) and a few of the new models have a built-in LCD touch screen so you can access the menu and preview or review your shots.  Most GoPro models do not come with an LCD so you have to buy the LCD Backpack ($80) if you want to be able to see what you are recording.

Dtel and I are going to be making a few posts in this thread about places we visit when cruising.  We will make individual posts about each island, including Isla of Roatan, Honduras, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, Belize, Central America, Cozumel, Mexico and Progresso, Mexico.  We will make one post about each island, what we do or have done when we visit each island and what we like about it.  In these posts we will offer some additional information that will hopefully assist you if you are planning a cruise.

For Cozumel, Mexico we will make two separate posts.

THIS IS NOT A PROMOTION FOR CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES.  THE PORT OF NEW ORLEANS IS WITHIN ONE HOUR OF OUR HOME AND CARNIVAL HAS TWO SHIPS PORTED THERE.  We are familiar with Carnival and feel comfortable discussing the amenities and attractions on board.  We have only sailed on Carnival Cruise Lines and to date have no reason to sail any other cruise line.  The service, atmosphere and amenities are well worth the cost of the cruise.

If you have not considered a cruise, we strongly encourage you to do so.  It's about the best experience for your vacation dollars that we have found.  On most cruise lines your stateroom, room steward service, all meals and limited non alcoholic beverages are included in the cost of the cruise.

There are unlimited buffets, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.  In addition, the main dining rooms provide excellent service for your evening meal.  There are several other eateries on board, such as a deli for hot grilled sandwiches, hamburgers, pasta bars, as well as other specialty restaurants at no charge.

There are several bars ( alcoholic beverages/soft drinks extra charge) , a casino, a game room (fees applicable), ping pong tables, miniature golf and a gym, all available with no extra charge.

Several swimming pools, hot tubs and water slides all provided with no charge.  Most ships have a "Serenity Deck" for adults only.  Most cruise lines offer full spa services for an additional charge. Carnival also offers Camp Carnival, an award winning program featuring Dr. Suess at Sea!  Camp Carnival is provided at no charge, with additional evening services available at a minimal charge (just in case you want to bring the kiddos).  Our grandchildren participated in Camp Carnival and loved it.

They also offer nightly music in several different venues, including a piano bar, disco, atrium and casino area.  There are also shows nightly in the main lounge, featuring professional dancers, lightly and themed music events.  There are also nightly shows in the comedy club.

Disclaimer:  We have NEVER booked an excursion through the cruise line.   We have never seen the need to do so.   Many of the excursions booked on board a cruise line will take you directly to the places we are showing you, at twice the cost.

YMMV, from our experiences, but after nine or so cruises we are comfortable sharing our experiences in each port.  You do need to be aware that these are "third world countries".  If you have never traveled to any of these countries you may experience a little bit of culture shock.  That being said, we love the Western Caribbean, the inhabitants of these islands and look forward to traveling there as often as possible.

The only reason we are positing this information is because we have spent A LOT of time researching what to do on a cruise.  We have talked to a lot of people and most have said they wish they would have known what we were doing because they were not that impressed with paid excursions.  Most cruise lines want you to purchase excursions through them and even resort to "scare" tactics to get you to do so.  Most excursions are double the approximate cost we will give you for each port.  We have even had people we met on the boat join us after taking a paid excursion through the cruise line.

Also, we love seeing the island and enjoying the beaches, including snorkeling.  We generally do not take tours that require long travel times through the jungles!
